  1. I tell you more, I think that the guys who didn't have that OMA problem are from the non NetMD generation, used to record in real time and mostly had stick on this way to record there MDs, they loved it. I did myself lot of recording with my NetMD / Hi-MD units with OMA files years ago but after all I deleted myself all files just because it take place on my computer ! Maybe I did not do that if they were at the start in Atrac lossless quality (and more place). Transfer music from any CD audio or WMA files using CD Burner or SS does not take a lot of time, that is also why I did not keep OMA files. If you have time enough for real time recording, you will have time for full cycle NetMD transfers.
  2. OMA what ? I never have this problem. I got 5 HDD failure. After the second one, all my music has been saved on CDs audio or DVDs (mp3, m4a, flac, ape) like my video files. I record in real time so I don't need SS at all except for editing the final MD. I use Winamp or foobar2000 for listening or recording as they accept Asio4all or Kernel Streaming audio output plugin. With SS, not only one plugin, even to enhance the music ! SS is not even able to help us to create labels. Winamp and foobar2000 plus any wysiwyg text editor can help us to do it very easily.
  3. I am rather limited here about the range of colors. Beside my first collection of MD blanks I have built since I came back (2000) in the MD world, I did not got that much choice in range of colors, even more today than two year ago. When there was still a little range of MD blanks on the very small vietnamese market. Nowadays you still find cheap blanks for 1,2$ only but for the moment you want more than 5 of them (in the very center of Saigon) you will have only Sony MD Premium blank disc choice.
  4. And you will be able to upoad your MD collection with an MZ-RH1 / M200 on your computer if you wish. I arrive in Vietnam the year of MD introduction. I was not aware of his capacities till my brother bought a MZ-R30 like yours. It is still working like a charm also but he don't use it very often. Recently I got a MZ-R55 from eBay France (see here http://forums.sonyin...r-me-in-france/) and 3 others portable units. Guess I have lot of units now working perfectly. Like you can see I AM NOT GOING TO DITCH MD ! Last year, a guy in Europe sold his 250 MDs collection, all with printed labels, hand made jackets and slip cases as a result it looked like pre-recorded MDs. I sold it with a beautiful wooden suitcase and an unit the same generation than the MZ-R30. I am still felling sorry not to have bought his collection. I am on the way these days to catalogue all my DVD audio & CD audio files with the CD Vista freeware. During the same time I start to reshuffle my MD collection with the best of it. This time with a wider range of music genders.
  5. Till the batery is a Ni-Mh, has the right size and the right voltage, you can rock with it. I use ALSO - 1 Panasonic 1350 mAh Ref. HHF-AZ01 - 1 Panasonic 900mAh ref. HHF-AZ09 batteries with my RH900 and there is no problem.
  6. VHS is for people who don't have a flat Tv and a DVD player yet (basic DVD = 20$, basic flat Tv 24" = 180$) or for people who want to watch special TV programs such as for kids, old vietnamese / chinese / corean movies, all things that would be boring for you (because 80% is with an vietnamese monocord off-voice). You can rent a VHS, not a DVD. DVD cost at least 0.5$ (till 12$ for so-called "Bluray" disc), rent cost 0.1 to 0.2$. technology go fast in Asia because people are countless, young, hungry of foreign technology and because possessed an Iphone or a Ipad is the must (for me it is just expensive crap). There are thousands shops for phones and computers in Saigon. Everywhere you can find somebody to sell you a SIM card. They are able to borrow money to have / to offer their lover the last computer / phone / motorbike. To glitter is very important for them. Countless guys loose also their phone / motorbike playing card during vietnamese new year T
  7. Look funny but in fact VHS video tapes are not dead yet. In Vietnam there is thousands of video shops which rent video tapes (vietnamese and chinese movies for the most) and which sell copied DVDs (foreign movies are not the majority, here again chinese and corean movies are the most copied). I see that now vietnamese 's great web site of streaming music are becoming more legal as they decided to pay international fees to companies, I think to be able to have all recent albums. Many vietnamese can now afford to pay to listen to the best quality music they can... on their iPhone (sic) ! This paying system will explode the market I think because singers will get the real opportunity to earn more money. The only thing I hope is that they will at least make good music, not common crap I hear every day.
  8. In fact that thing take a lot of time like you said. Anyway listening the clicks and the hisses make you feel you are listen to your LP player ! I suppose paranoicb does not have his whole collection on MD and have to make his best of with his limited quantity of MDs blanks. I just thought that with such a huge collection he would be able to know what (old) years ingeneering were good as a result to propose a large full range for the spectral sound. Maybe the quality climbed every years then suddently fell down in beeing compressed because of the "necessity" for the music companies to "sell" their albums to the radios.
  9. I see that many people on the web copy their LP albums in 24bit - 96kHz mode and make them available such as torrent files. I use Bitsnoop and Isohunt to find them. Do you copy your LP on your PC in Wav files in the same quality ? Do you store your Wav files (in a compress form like Flac, Monkey Audio, Wave Pack, LA...) on your computer or any HDD / DVD ? A list of those LPs would be marvelous...
  10. Your story made me decided to catalog all my CDs audio, DVDs Flac audio files, DVD MP3 files with the freeware CDVista (www.gentibus.com). It take time as I have some hundreds discs.
  11. I have lost 5 HDD since I live in Vietnam. None of my original Cds are upload on my computer. The only music I have on my computer is downloaded one and I swiftly copy it on CD Rom or DVD Rom or directly on MDs in real time. As everything is available on internet (torrent files), it is like clouding storage. I like to have something in my hand and even to take time to open a box. Every time I use my Ipod, I feel sad. I remember my young years when the only way to listen to pop and rock music was to buy the LP or to borrow it. At this time, few people in France listened to that kind of music (instead it was y
  12. This auction is ending in less that one hour Already at 370 $US 425$ !
  13. I do the same, I prefer SP and LP2 just because I prefer to listen music on my deck or on my bookshelf. When I will come back from France after Christmas with my new units, I will listen again to my Hi-MD discs but I hate to have dozens and dorens of tracks on one disc (I notice that I always listen to the same titles, not the deep inside ones) so I will use PCM and 352kbps only, maybe still record on real time (like it). I still have a 30Gb black Ipod. Look beautiful but I rarely use it. I am like The Wizzzzzzzard, I wait for an affordable external DAC. Better than the Ipod, the lossless music files on my computer itself. Just need a good player like foobar2000 or Winamp (free), a good audio driver like Asio4all or KS (free), a very good audio card with optical out and your 24bit DAC minidisc deck ! Try 24bit 96kHz lossless music.
  14. Like you can see in one of my recent topic, I have 4 portable units "waiting for me in France" (http://forums.sonyin...r-me-in-france/). I didn't come back yet but 3 of them has been sold in good order condition. Except the MZ-RH1 which has writing and sometimes reading problems only with Hi-MD discs. But as I have a MZ-RH1 here with no such problems but a little bit ugly, I will share spare parts between them. Here in Vietnam, as Pham Cu (phamcu on this forum) is able to repair any deck, I am a happy guy. He worked (for free) also on one of my portable unit, my MZ-NH900 but finally problems came back. That unit is my main problem since my grey MZ-RH1 has found now a black brother. Send a PM to phamcu (http://forums.sonyin.../121057-phamcu/), maybe we will be also interested with your units and would accept a deal. See his web page (Google Translator for an approximative translation) : http://www.5giay.vn/...d.php?t=3360572
  15. You have enough units to make your own little RIP museum ! But just an idea. Jim Hoggart in UK is a specialist of portable units and because of that he have a lot of spare parts. Maybe he is still looking for these spare parts. Why do you not ask him to receive all your units in a parcel, let him see if he is able to repair some or them, send them back to you or sell them for you, then keep the other ones for his payment ?
  16. IBAN is for International buyer (outside Europe), but as he have quite a lot units to sale and try to sell them at the same time, I doubt he will make a lot of bids. Pretty sure he will have to restart his auctions with a cheaper starting price. Just contact him and ask him if finally he accept Paypal, even propose a bid at a lower price.
  17. a lucky dip with Kitties MD blanks and a pink ribbon inside...
  18. He is the guy who sell also curiosities like the label printer... Look at this beauty : http://cgi.ebay.fr/P...a#ht_531wt_1141 with speakers : see all bids here : http://shop.ebay.fr/...=1&_from=&_ipg= see all pictures here : https://picasaweb.go...CNLKluX-vO7lFg#
