  1. try another USb port.I´ve had this before and could succeed that way.
  2. i just thought there was a seperated standbye circuit so if this was the Fuse for the mains you could be lucky. waiting for a good news :-)
  3. most likely it is not. In fact it is a real pain to open these mini systems. I´ve had trouble with several before The PSU should be on the back of the Unit. IF it´s just a fuse that´s defect you could be lucky. Did you try to reset as per manual -> 1 Disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet. 2 Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet. 3 press Power 4 Press TUNER BAND, CD EJECT and REC MODE at the same time. Look at the manual for failure codes @page 51 here ->http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/4233759133.pdf
  4. maybe a worn out or defect fuse on the PSU ? Do you hear a clicking relais when you try to power on ?
  5. alright i took a look into the SM for the mentioned Deck above. It seems to me there is no button config to enter the Test mode rather than soldering a resistance to the Board. It reads interesting though as there´s a screw mentioned to calibrate the Spindle Motor.A defective Spindle Motor will lead to an impedance Problem where it can lead to Audio dop outs ! Now as i lack an oszilloskop i will try my luck by just messing around with a non functional unit. The whole process is described @page 28/47 Sadly there are figures missing that are most important for the soldering of measurements :-/
  6. That is not a Hi-MD unit so it's not of interest.
  7. Hi there I asked this some time before but sadly i´ve never stumbled across any answers. Most people owning any sort of Onkyo Hi-MD machines will know that they´re very fragile concerning the MD Drive. So far i´ve seen and collected many units that obviously suffer from the same Problem. They seem to be out of alignment :-/ The Discs won´t even eject when they fail to read - this goes so far that even a press of the standby button don´t get the unit to standby ; or better said the unit shuts down but the MD Drive continues to read and the Laser tries to focus while the Sled drives to its parking position and so on. Does nobody else than me cares about fixing these units? I´ve had success with a FR-N7 where i changed the Flexribbon from a 105FX.It finally reads Hi-MD 1GB Discs but that´s about it. So the first thing to achieve is to finally get a service manual or at least know the button combinations. I suggest there´s some japanese Members here too that possibly could gather that information through websearch ? Any help would be highly appreciated :-)
  8. I suggest there´s a flex ribbon from the Drive / or the Board that needs to be reseated properly. You should probably reseat all connections and see if it brings change.
  9. yes they were only used on the analog output stage. So any recording is the same wether the filter is on of off. That´s the Big deal on the 333ES-> it´s analog output.I really like it
  10. I just recorded a test file @66kb e.g. LP4 on my JB980 and uploaded it with RH1 to SoS. imported it in AudioStudio 10 and saved it again as LP4 66kb. Now the copy protection is gone too :-D and i can import it in SoS with no Problems. Like Stephen said the Metadata can´t be saved somehow. When you´re about to save you need to click custom to select the Atrac3 modes ; that was a bit confusing for me as you couldn´t select them from the standard view. But in the end everything works perfect besides the option for quality.I can´t select high or standard when it comes to Atrac3.The option just don´t exist :-O It´s only available for Atrac3+..
  11. The internal batteries for the timer are "nc-aa660ft" seen these batteries ? I think most if not any 1,2V AA cell will do the Job http://www.ebay.de/itm/Batterie-Telephone-sans-fil-pour-SONY-MZ-R5ST-/351516807256?hash=item51d808d058:g:pEYAAOSwPgxVSFGM I´ll check my unit later.probably my batteries are drained out too. But as i never used the timer function it didn´t happened to cause any problems.
  12. hi im using Audio Studio 10 on Win 10 :-D I´ve noticed something similar but in the end when i looked at the file in the windows explorer it turned out it was saved as i wanted it to be. maybe you shozld check that ? it was like i was trying to select a bitrate/codec to the saved file that was switched back during saving. In the end it turned out this was not the case.
  13. afaik every Model uses the spindle motor time as for a recording it´´s not needed to spin through , just when the ram is empty it spins. That´s why one needs to count it x4
  14. well.. i´ve came across these too but ended up disabling them. for unplugged stuff i used to play with Filter 2 on my 333ES.But that was very few times
  15. you´re missing the right words & software :-D Drag&DRop is not possible.you need SonicStage + like every device a NetMD unit needs a driver that you´re missing i assume. check the DL section here in the Forums .
  16. it will.Same procedure for the driver if you do a fresh install. have fun :-)
  17. iirc M-Crew needs win 98 to work.I couldn´t get mine to work on either xp or win 7.
  18. All my JA20 units are in fact using Type-R Chips although they don´t show it on the front plate. Has there ever been a JA20 with the Type-R embossed like the 333/555 do ? I don´t think so :-) Mine are all EU Models if that matters ? Well.. Bruce -> how about your 333 being defect? You still got that unit ?
  19. hehe just changed the 760 file to not recognize it as netMD :-D what bothers me is that i can´t use the MN10 as i wanted to.If i need to use a virtual OS this won´t match my htpc criteria as the comfort would be gone. damn
  20. afaik the PCL uses plain Slink commands ( same as A1II ) and should be just the same but with another plug. correct me if i´m wrong. I´m just about to get that PC3 running with M-Crew.It refuses to recognize it by now.Iam wondering why the PCLK-MN10 is adresed as NetMD in my Device Manager ? Maybe that is the fault.have to figure out how to install in properly in win10 64 :-X the 470 has PC-Link -> http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MDS-JE470.html why shouldn´t it work.. ? My 470 Deck is dead bc of a bad PCB so i can´t test its PCL
  21. Hi well i got a JE470 and it does have a PC-Link plug. I´m interested in modding my 333ES because the japanese one lacks Control A1 in favor to the PC-Link. So what was going on @ Sony building 2 versions ? I assume they were the same with just 2 different plugs at the Board. Does anyone own a japanese 333ES and could take some pictures of the Board ?? The small Board is taken from my 333ES and the Big Mainboard is the 470 with PC-Link plug. I need to know if the Board in the Japanese version is the same with just aother plug connected.Maybe i can get a picture of that Board from a member of the FB group who owns the japanese version.. let´s see :-)
  22. Ain´t 80m Discs just plain 74 Discs with a modified Toc ? My 3ES can play/record them as every other 60/74 Discs. I think your Laser is probably worn out due to thermal problems in that series. The 80m Discs are more precise to read..so an inaccurate Laser will have problems. Are you having record issues as well ?
  23. Hi guys just bought a MDS-PC3 and only need the interface to do some tweaking ;-) My Deck i want to use with it is the 333ES but it is not the japanese version that comes with a PC-LINK interface First off -> iirc Stephen once said that the A1/A1II plug is pinwise identical to the PC-Link ? So what happens is i got a defect spare JE470 here that has to be slaughtered for the next steps to come. I was thinking that in case A1 and the PC-Link are Boardwise the same that i want wo change the A1 from my 333ES to a PC-Link. Has anyone ever thought of this or evenm done something like this ? Funny that when i plugged in the PCLK-MN10 to a USB port of my htpc it was adopted in seconds and runs as a NetMD device named "PCLK-MN10" I´ll disassemble the 333ES tomorrow and check/compare the Pins of the A1/PC-Link.
