    English Manual

Can someone provide copies or a link to the English manual for the MZ-N10? I still cannot figure out how to record from my PC. Thanks
  2. Music Transfer w/ MZ-N10: Can someone tell me STEP-BY-STEP how to set this up on my computer? I never had a Net MD unit before. And the manual I have is in Japanese. I downloaded OpenMG from the Sony site, then downloaded the MZ-N10 drivers from the CD out of the box. Open MG always says no external device detected. I really want to transfer music directly from a music CD loaded into the CD drive of my computer to the Minidisc recorder. I saw this quick demo at a store with an MZ-N1. I don't really care about transferring MP3's from my computer's hard drive to the Minidisc recorder. Thanks!
  3. I want to take advantage of direct transfer of CD music to my MZ-N10 via my computer. I hooked up my minidisc recorder, but Open MG says "External Device/Media not found". I got the Japanese version with Japanese manuals. I downloaded OpenMG 2.2 from the internet and downloaded the MZ-N10 drivers from the CDROM that came with my unit. That's as far as I got. Did I do everything right so far?

    MD Data for Music

Just like with the MDLP format, Sony can and should make MDData2 enabled portables that can also play current MD Music disks. That way, no one trashed their existing collection and would attract buyers otherwise looking for a bulky, hard-drive based player. Small body and high capacity AND removable media would make the ultimate portable music system.:!:

    MD Data for Music

That's what I meant. I didn't know there was an original MD Data with less capacity.

    MD Data for Music

The Data MD's have higher capacity than Music MD's. Like a DVD is to a CD.
  7. I've read on the MZ-N10: "Rehearsal Mode: holding the track mark button down for a few seconds enters rehearsal mode, allowing fine +/- adjustment of the track mark's position, just like home Minidisc decks. " The track mark position on the MZ-N10 is not as fine as a home deck's. My MXD-D5C is has 2/80 of a second adjustment. My MXD-D3 has an even better 1/80 adjustment. I don't know what the MZ-N10 is. Is there a setting that will make the adjustments finer? Which Sony home deck models that have the 1/80 precision of the MXD-D3?
  8. I adjust the speed of my music, usually faster than normal, to maintain my pace when working out. My feet go with the beat. (My experience using wave editors and disc jockey equipment is that) Tempo changes without accompanying pitch changes sound fine for pure vocals, but sound crappy for percussions. I'd rather have Alvin & the Chipmunks than a sloppy, choppy-sounding drums.
  9. The N10 needs a firmware upgrade, so that the pitch lock can be disabled when ajdusting the speed (tempo). I would rather have the pitch scale up or down with the tempo adjustments, than having it stay constant. When the pitch is maintained when the tempo changes, the music sounds choppy and robotic.
  10. Thanks for your replies. If the N10 firmware is upgradable (is it?), I'll request that Sony add a feature to disable the pitch lock when adjusting the tempo. Else, I'll just go ahead an buy an N1.
  11. Anyone with an MZ-E10 or MZ-N10 tell me, does the (DPC) speed control sound okay on these units? I know that sometimes, having speed/tempo changes without accompanying pitch changes will make music sound choppy or robotic, like on some karaoke players, wave editors, and dj cd players. I'd rather have the high or low pitched sounds, if this is the case.
  12. High capacity portable players & recorders that use MD Data discs, compatible with regular MD discs, too. :!:
  13. I hooked up my minidisc deck to a CD-R Audio recording deck. I used the analog ins and outs. The optical ins and outs were not working for some reason. It records in real time, of course, and you have to insert the track marks manually on the fly. I just recorded the whole minidisc as one long track onto the CD-R Audio disc. Then, I ripped the CD-R to my computer's hard drive as a wave file and chopped up the wave into tracks using a wave editor. I could've recorded straight into the computer, but (1) I didn't have a good sound card, and (2) the computer sometimes slows down when the RAM is filled up.
  14. I had a U.S. model MZ-R900 that I lost. I still have the adaptor for it. Can I buy the Japanese MZ-N10 and use my old adaptor for the U.S., so that I don't need to get a power converter?
  15. Need a link to Minidisc.org at the forums page The link to forums.minisic.org should be more visible (near the top) at Minidisc.org Minor things
