  1. I'm hoping someone can help me undo an accidental hack. I was using my MZ-RH910 to consolidate track marks. I pushed forward (instead of back), then pause and hit mark (rec) repeatedly. I thought this was a quick way to combine tracks. WRONG!! Suddenly this section of my recording is playing at high speed. The speed feature is not part of the RH910 so I figure it's a hack. I've tried to reverse this with my MZ-RH1, which does have a speed feature. It didn't work. It's only one section of the recording. Any ideas on how to get back to the original recording speed?? All suggestions graciously accepted.
  2. More information is needed. What MD unit were you using? Some have a history of recording dropouts. Was the microphone secure? Were you bopping to the beat?
  3. Since I posted I found out that ROXIO EASY MEDIA CREATOR can solve one channel drop out. It's in the PROJECT VIEW area of SOUND EDITOR. Right-clicking and chosing CLIP PROPERTIES opens a screen and with CHANNEL Control yoiu can do a variety of options. As for the loose mic I found some vecro straps and have them around the microphone. Thanks for replying Ed
  4. Hello MD fans, I'm not sure if this should be under software or live recording. Maybe both. Software issue: I made a live recording with my MD and due to movement on my part only got ONE channel for about two minutes. Is there a way to cut and paste the recorded channel to get pseudo stereo on the blank channel? I've got versions of Audacity (newbie on it) and Roxio (more experienced.) Any tips would be appreciated. Live Recording problem: Does anyone have a method for keeping the microphone connection secure during stealth recording? I've had this jiggling connection problem a few times. In some cases the static that resulted made whole sections of music impossible to salvage. My older CORE mics have a straight connector. (He's offering a right angle one now.) I have a SONY Mic extension cable but for some reason the CORE connector does not fit flush. It's very frustrating to find out that bopping to the music ruined a recording. Do you use Elastic bands, velcro?? Ed
  5. The End is Near. BOTH MD dealers listed in this thread have sold out and are posting that the RH1 has been discontinued. http://www.abtelectronics.com/product/27148.html http://www.keenzo.com/showproduct.asp?ID=815817 It prompted me to finally take the RH1 plunge. I just purchased one from our web page supporter minidisco.com with a $5 off certificate. Should be arriving early next week. Ed
  6. You are correct Greenmachine. I tested the Sony mic by recording a big band and no noise was detectable.
  7. Thanks for commenting A440. I doubt she'll remember what pickup pattern she set it on. I'll have to experiment. The sound reminds me of good old fashioned surface noise. I wonder if her being in the AUTO recording mode contributed to the problem. My regular stealth live music recording is done with CORE Binaural microphones. I haven't used the MS907 for some time. If it's just in the nature of Sony mics, then I have a new appreciation of how significant microphone quality is to a good live recording.
  8. Hello everyone, I need a little technical critique. I recently loaned my niece my MZ 707 and the Sony ECM-MS907 microphone. She was recording a local author reading selections from her book. She wanted to send this reading to a publisher. Anyway, I was out of town at the time so I tried to keep it simple. I set the 707 to SP and told her to just slide into record. I thought this would give us the best sound to transfer. Fresh batteries were in both units. When I returned I was very disappointed with the sound quality. There was a very noticeable hissing noise throughout the recording the "s"s and "t"s were very piercing. What went wrong? This lady was just reading from her book into the microphone. I put on my headphones and recreated the situation. I ran through all the recording modes and notice that the noise was NOT there when I put the unit into MONO. Any ideas as to what's going on here? Regards, Ed PS I was able to clean up the recording but didn't expect to have to do that.
  9. Has anyone dealt with this company?? It's called Keenzo and currently has the RH1 for just under $300 (US). They are based in New York. Their mission statement has a strong customer service philosophy. http://www.keenzo.com/showproduct.asp?ID=815817
  10. I noticed this old MD on ebay and can't seem to locate it on the Equipment page. Is this MZS-R55T that rare? It's got a docking station and a large flip up screen. http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-Portable-MD-Recor...1QQcmdZViewItem Regards, Ed
  11. I'm a newbie to posting and may have originally posted this in the wrong Forum area. Sorry if I did. Anyway, my friend's SHARP MD-MT770 is stuck with perpetual "TOC READ." It's one of those Sharp Japan units that minidisco used to sell. Sharp USA will not touch it. Here's how he describes the problem: "When I put a disc in the unit, the display keeps scrolling the message "TOC READ". Which I assume means that it cannot read the table of contents. Same thing happens when I put in a blank or a previously recorded disc." Is there any way out of this?? At this point he'll try anything. Regards, Ed

This is my second post and first time I've tried to start a new topic.
  13. I just checked and ebay has a complete MZ-1 unit, one owner, original box and all cables, adaptor, etc., for sale. Current bid is at 99 cents. It might be worth bidding for it and you'll get the original adaptor. Seller is in the USA. http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-Md-Walkman-MZ-1-M...VQQcmdZViewItem Regards, Ed
  14. This is my first posting. Although a MD fan for a number of years, I didn't know about this site until a month ago. Since then I've been all over it. I discovered MD back in 2001 when I saw a local jazz big band leader using it to record her band's performance. Live Jazz recording (mostly stealth) with MD has become my obsession. Here in the USA we MD fans are few and far between. (Even the SONY store at a major mall doesn't stock MDs.) I just wanted to thank all the people responsible and let you know that I REALLY appreciate your work. The information you are providing about all things MD is GREAT.
