  1. Hello again! I have for sale my Sony MZ-N10 It is in lovely "as-new" condition - just check the photos. Lovely magnesium body. Fully kitted out MDLP with Type-S, NetMD and Acoustic Engine, more info http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-N10.html I include the original remote and the instruction manual. Sadly I have no means of charging the built-in Li-ION battery and I do not have the AA sidecar so I must specify it as "untested" however from memory I believe it worked fine. It has just been sitting unused for years. Photos: https://imgur.com/a/Gl4Gw Please PM
  2. I'm looking for the official minidisc logo, prefereably a vector or high resolution. There's a few on the web but they seem to be fan recreations with varying degrees of accuracy.
  3. Hi! Recently I got tiny minidisc recorder MZ-N510. I successfully hacked it, to add some new options to menu e.t.c. After some time I revert it to default settings. But now I really think that before hacking, there was an option in menu "OPTION", that gives possibility to select battery type between Alkaline and Ni-mh. Is it true? I can't remember... Or it's only my fantasy? Does anybody here has UN-hacked MZ-N*** to see if your player has such option in menu. If it's true, please, can someone tell me, what the values of registers 61 and 62 in Service menu I need to save. I saw user's ma
  4. Hi All, Selling my MZ-B100 business MiniDisc and 74-min disc. It's in really good condition and I'm asking $125 OBO. Checking eBay, they're currently selling for $200 - $300. For me, it would be more of a collector's piece and not something I would use everyday. Minidisc.org info - http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-B100.html eBay Listing - http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/132105023911? Features: MD recorder intended for business use (dictation, recording meetings). Internal stereo flat microphone and monaural front speaker. Voice-Operated Recording function automatically
  5. Anyone have an Onkyo MD-105FX they no longer want? I'm based in Sydney Australia and happy to pay postage from anywhere in the world.
  6. Hi all, Selling my well-loved Sony DHC-MD515 minisystem, in fantastic condition, original speakers & cables, though speaker grilles are long lost. This has been my everyday-use stereo since about 1999, though these days I chiefly use it for FM radio & AUX inputs for iPods and turntable. 3 MD changer, 3 CD changer, AM/FM tuner, 2x RCA In, 1x RCA out. 50+50W RMS amp & speakers. The marquee feature of the unit is that the front panel detaches and acts as the remote. I'll post photos if anyone is interested. Here's an informative link from minidisc.org: http://www.
  7. Hello All, I recently came across my old Sony MZ-NHF800 minidisc recorder and all related devices. I have no use for the items now and was wondering 1. If anyone could identify the model of the microphones and 2. provide me with an estimate of the worth of the items pictured? Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  8. Hello everyone, I have a Sharp MD-MT200 which powers up normally but when a disc is inserted, it says TOC READ but then "Can't READ u", followed the next time (after a gentle wipe of the lens) by "Can't READ a". Does anyone know a solution to this problem, to get it playing again? Thanks very much.
  9. I have a Sony MZ-N505 MiniDisc player, with a Mini-USB connection port on the side, and my computer simply will not see it, as in it simply doesn't show up on the system. I have SonicStage installed, I have the drivers ready to go, but I can't for the life of me get my computer even recognize that I've connected it to the USB port. For reference, I'm using a Dell laptop with 8 gigs of RAM, an AMD A6 chip, and integrated graphics. I've tried to connect to all three USB ports, included the USB 3.0 port, but I've had no luck. Any suggestions?
  10. Greetings fellow minidiscers! Finally found a forum on which to share my troubles:) Basically my beloved minidisc collection has been sitting idle for years waiting for its rebirth... I've always used portable minidisc players to record and listen. All my minidiscs are recorded - a lot long play 4. I noticed a long time ago that some of my minidiscs started to have intermittent 'stops'.. Always at the same points. The music would play .. The track recording would somehow stop and only catch on a few seconds later.. Soon this could turn into a fully blown stop where the track just could
  11. There may be those wondering what record mode to use and when. I'm only covering the modes I'm familiar with, there are others on Net MD and HiMD devices. Mode Description: Stereo: Stereo is the standard recording mode for Minidisc. Stereo uses ATRAC compression to record two separate channels on the disc. In this mode the record time is indicated on the disc package plus an additional 59 seconds. A 74 minute disc is 74:59 and an 80 Minute disc is 80:59. This mode is compatible with all Minidisc players and recorders. Mono: Mono is another standard recording mode for minidisc. Mo
  12. Hello! With regards to standard minidiscs is there a difference in Minidisc disk brands? There are so many on the market with differing prices. Can I expect more reliability and, more importantly, difference in sound quality, etc. with a disc from, say, HHB, than with a cheaper one from sony, or tdk? Thanks!
  13. Do just about anything with Minidiscs using this bundle! UNITS Sony MDS-JB930 Minidisc deck. Very good condition. Very high end, look for reviews online! CABLES 2 x very high end QED Qunex OT Toslink/Optical Cables 2 x Mini to normal Toslink/optical cable (not pictured, Gumtree only allows so many pictures) Mini to Mini Toslink/optical cable (to attach to portable player) (Sony) coax cable (Profigold
  14. As many of you know already, MiniDisc was at its most popular in Japan, in fact music in that format (Pre-recorded MDs) have been released and sold there as recent as 2010 (!) So not surprisingly, Japan has PLENTY of nice units that play and record MDs. I've been a regular user of an auction deputy service that allows you to bid on Japanese auction sites (most commonly Yahoo!). Recently I have won a bookshelf MD Unit made by Aiwa in 2003 - and I am in LOVE with it! Take a look: Here are some of its awesome features: the display changes colors (511 according to its manual!) Its FM c
  15. Dear SonyInsiders, I stumbled across this forum as I searched for some details of my MZ-E10 Minidisc Portable Player. So I thought I'd post it here first and see any members are interested in purchasing it? I cannot remember when I bought it - I bought it in London. I had many Minidiscs back in the day - but stupidly threw them when we moved from London to Zurich back in 2009. I pretty much have photographed it from all angles. So I hope you can see the condition is top. The Ear Phones are the Originals - I never used it that much to be honest - I just kept hold of it. Plea
  16. Dear members, My MDS-303 laser arm has broken and I'm seeking for a new one, is there someone that does have this component or someone that knows where can I buy this? Thanks in advance, Sascha PS: Sorry for my bad english, I'm from Belgium.
  17. I had to upgrade my computer to use a program for work. I don't want to retire my MiniDisc just yet! I saw the post about QHiMDTransfer, but didn't see where to download it, or whether it worked for Mavericks. Thanks in advance!!!
  18. I use a deputy service to buy stuff from overseas, usually Japan. A couple months ago I made a bid on an MZ-R37 through that service on a Japanese auction - and it turned out to be the only bid. It just happened to be the Purple version of the MZ-R37. I heard it here and there was rare, but there isn't much info about it. Is it really THAT rare? One guy said it was "the rarest one on the planet". Is that true? FYI, it came with a pair of headphones and a remote and works perfectly. It's in very good physical shape too - one thing about Japanese second-hand stuff from my experience, nine
  19. A few years ago I updated the firmware of my minidisc HiMD MZ-NH10. It was during a update of Sonic Stage. During the update ther was a error. Result: the display of my MZ-NH10 always says "No disc". But there is no trouble with my discs. Now after a few years I fount back my minidisc MZ-NH10 and I want start using it again. Does anyone have firmware for my Sony MZ-NH10 ? Or another solution?
  20. My elderly father has an elderly Sony DHC-ZX50MD which he has been in love with - but is devastated that it keeps erasing some of his minidiscs. Can anyone recommend a repairer around Middlesex/Surrey/London where he can take it to be looked at? Or at this stage do you think there's no point as it's too old and I should try and get him another second hand but younger system. He's too stuck in his ways to learn how to use a new system really - and at his age. It's too big obviously to post many thanks in anticipation of a reply.
  21. So I'm not new to Minidisc (as the title says). It is a format I've been familiar with since ... 2003? 2004? I was at secondary (high) school at the time I had my first player. It was a Sharp MD MT80, although for some strange reason, I could have sworn the screen and buttons were the opposite way around. Funny how memory works. Back then it was recording music from a CD player track by track, which often helped kill boredom, but its not something I would have the patients for nowadays. Which is why, in my search to get back into the format, I aquired a NetMD device from eBay. It cost
  22. Hi, I have the NZ 505 MD player and have stuff on minidisc recorded years ago that I would like to rip to a new computer and make mp3/wav copies. At the moment I can listen to the songs but Audacity software doesnt record the songs as the msuic plays through the MDs headphones and not the computer with Sonicstage. Is there a way round this? Thanks and apologies if this is answered somewhere on the forum, but I haven't found it if it is.
  23. Got the following items for sale: 1. Sony MDX - C7970 Minidisc car radio 2. Sony MDX - 66XLP 6 disc MDLP changer Used, in good condition, includes all cables and manuals. Please PM for further details.
  24. I am looking for a source for the replacement, don't care if it's OEM like this one http://www.smallbattery.company.org.uk/sbc_lip3wmb.htm Just need one for under the $38.40 + S&H that Sony Quoted me today by phone and email! Surely someone here has a source for them here in the united States? Thanks, Tom lifesystems@cox.net me
  25. Hi, I am a long time lurker, and really appreciate all of the hacks the regulars here have provided over the years - it has been really difficult to realise the full potential of HiMD vs those meddling kids at Sony. I am not really very technical so would really appreciate any help with the below. Anyway, my beloved MZ-RH1 has been well used, then recently wouldn't power up. It wouldn't charge, or power up when plugged into the PC. If it was just the battery then wouldn't it still power up / show some sign of life when plugged into the PC. I would happily buy a new LIP-4WM if it was de
