  1. I have a Sony Vaio VPCEB19FX, which has an A222GVPJ motherboard with AMI Aptio Version 1.28.1119, BIOS Version R0300Y8, EC Version K0300Y8, and ME Version 6.0.3.1195 ©2008 Legacy-type BIOS wi Version . I have seen issues reported with booting from USB in this BIOS. I have also seen some specific processor requirements (PAE, NX, and SSE2) and BIOS requirements (NX Bit). Some say non-UEFI BIOS will not work and others say it just limits Win 10 functionality. Others say that AMI BIOS will work and others that you just need to make sure the BIOS will allow a USB boot, by changing a hidden setting to allow the system to boot from USB. This computer meets all other Win 10 requirements, but there is no recent BIOS to flash and I can't see a way to turn on UEFI from BIOS. The manufacturer (Sony) doesn't mention this PC in "supported" PCs able to upgrade to Win 10. The computer is fast and smooth, for an old laptop. To the questions... 1) Is UEFI required? Does Win 10 require anything specific of BIOS? 2) Is the decision by Sony to not list my model due to drivers, UEFI, or just that it has not been tested and, therefore, not officially supported? 3) Is there AMI-specific problem upgrading to Win 10? Am I safe to upgrade from Win 7 to Win 10, with these things in mind? Please help! Thanks in advance!
  2. hello, i recently acquired a second hand Sony Vaio Pro 13 (SVP132A1CW) and almost immediately updated it to windows 10. Now while looking through the settings i noticed i could not turn off the keyboard backlight. I googled it and found it could be done through the Vaio Control Centre. To my dismay i couldn't find a way to access it in windows 10. I tried to find something in the BIOS but there was nothing there (i have not updated my BIOS from the original). Is there anything i can do or is my situation hopeless?
  3. Hello Everyone, Please bare with me, as I'm new to this and Win10. So I recently got my Sony Vaio Laptop PC, S13 Premium. I'm very happy with it, even tho the Stamina/Speed Switch doesn't work. However, my bigger problem is the Slot Loading Drive. Every time I insert a Disc (must be put in 3.5/4 before it'll take it) it'll click, make a few 'loading/reading' sound and then spits (ejects) it right back out. I've tried every Disc I own. I have tried going on Sony's website and download the Firmware Update, Boot BIOS (couldn't find what I needed (ie OP Drive ) in it), Boot Safe Mode Uninstall Device/ Re-Install Drivers, Uninstall Device/ Un-Plug/Let Sit/ Reboot, and even trying to clean it (the Slot Loader has an upper/lower foam/neoprene-style cover guard). There's nothing physically preventing it (cosmetic issues, etc). The Eject button works, Properties states there is NO issues wrong with it. The person I bought it from said they used Win10 Disc prior to shipping and it worked. Even the PC worked. I wasn't sure B/C the Sony Website states that this particular drive, firmware updates, and drivers are only supported by Win7 & Win8. I'm at a loss. Hopefully the seller will resolve this, but haven't heard back. It's been back and forth for days trying to figure this out. Even if I get refunded some money, I either have to figure out a fix for this , pay to get it fixed or get an External Optical Drive. Which I don't want to do. Especially B/C I absolutely love this PC otherwise. Something to note, the Model Number doesn't match the MN when in "About This PC", which I find odd. Here are the Specs (I'll try to add photos too): Name: Sony Vaio S13 Premium M/N (On Bottom of PC): SVS13AB1GL (AKA: SVS13A290X) M/N (Located In About PC): SVS13A2APXS Processor: Intel i7-3520M CPU @ 2.90 GHz / 2.90 GHz RAM: 12.0 GB (11.9 Available ) System Type: 64-Bit OP System, x64-Based Processor Windows ED.: Win10 Pro Ver.: 1709 OS Build: 16299.967 Optical Drive: MATSHITA BD-CMB UJ167AM (Says it's a BD/DVD/CD-RW, online can't find any info, and actual Properties says its only CD-RW) ***Also note that I always get 'Not optimal resolution ', yet resolution is set to max (1600 x 900)*** And thank you for any Kind help/ support (tho please don't say "Call Customer Support", don't ask why, also I have no phone calling now). EDIT: This forum won't allow me to upload pix. So I linked them to imgur: http://imgur.com/a/rPlsTzS
  4. Ok.....this is something new. Yippee!!!! I am baffled. I have always been somewhat of an expert on MD and MD related topics, but this one has me stumped. I hope you are reading this Stephen because I could really use another brain right now. Running windows 10 Pro, SS 4.3 I kept getting the infamous "program has stopped working click to restart." After uninstalling and re-installing it a billion times I finally got the software to read the NET-MD and not crash right away. It now crashes every time I perform an action. I finally does the MD's just fine, it will let me edit, rename, delete, format, move, etc.......but directly after or during the edit the program crashes. Next when I try to re-open SS I get the sonic stage system restore wizard. Even more baffling is when I try to transfer tracks to the MD, I get a bunch of question marks then it completey freezes. I have tried reinstalling, regedit, restarting computer, etc.....to no avail. The question mark thing is comical to say the least. I have NO CLUE IN HELL what could be wrong with this. I have been on Windows 10 for a year and SS worked fine. I do remember the crash problem in the past, but I forget how we fixed it. But even then I didn't get these damn question marks. Please see attached screenshots. Update: I have managed to get Mp3s to transfer, but only newer ones. I get all of the question marks but after it is done the track is there and displayed correctly. I have a ton of music in a folder that works fine, but will not transfer unless I go re-save it with the same or different file type. these were transferrable with sonic stage at one time, but not now. Is something wrong with the folder? the tracks play fine through SS but wont transfer. They used to work. WTF!!? I'm ripping my hair out here!!!!!!!!! Could this be some sort of DRM? see the WTF SS5 file Please Please help me!!!!!! ;-)
  5. Recently I upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10. SonicStage did open normally but it was not able to transfer to CD. The drive was not recognized and all options greyed out. After this, I searched for a new version and found one titled “Ultimate”. After installing new from this source, SS did not even run. It said always Runtime error in Visual C++ Even installing it from the old source file gave the same exception errors. I investigated the type of error and found out: Function Create Mutex | Access denied. I do not know why! After many new trials of installing this software and many different runtime errors, finally I managed to make the program running again. It is running only in Compatibility Mode for XP!!! Also the tool: 'SonicStage System Information Restore Tool' was running at startup and successful. But yet now, I tested all my albums and found out, that only those I had formerly exported without software protection could be played. The others showed the well known error: "Cannot play this track because the licensing information cannot be found. Please contact the source from which you received this track from" This is very great sh***t!!! Can any body help me or post her/his other experiences with SonicStage and Windows 10? I have about 14 GB of music albums and do not want to loose most of them. Prior to the new SS installation I had made a SS data backup, but I don't know if restoring from backup would help.
