Hello,

Is there any information about, Fiber Optic Headphones? Since, most people now use digital MP3 players, or MINIDISC I wounder why do companies not provide true digital headphones to listen to digital music? Why do we still still listen to digital music through stereo headphones? Has anything been done to replace the stereo headphone types.

The only Optical Fiber Optic Headphones I have seen are made by fibersound. And they can be found at the following page: http://www.fibersound.com/prod04.htm

Enjoying Minidisc,
Mikami

Companies do not generally provide digital headphones because headphones require the amplification of an analogue signal in order to create sound.

Digital headphones = including the power supply, amplifier, d/a converters et al INSIDE the headphones, which is pretty impractical compared to just having speakers inside them and depending on an external source, which will likely be a far higher .uality in terms of d/a and amplification than what they can fit inside a pair of cans.

Thanks dex Otaku! That makes sense.

AND portable MiniDisc players not have an optical out sad.gif , and would not be able to support the digi-phones.

I have been looking at few cordless Digital phones, Optical ones, and some of the USB ones a few stores seem to stock and these:
Panasonic RP-WH5000
Sony MDR-DS4000

But, I do not know much about them, yet. Well, I guess I will just get a nice stereo pair after all we do not hear digitially, while I think about the digital ones.

Thanks those do look nice! A bit expensive, but cool looking. I think might just get a pair of those (stereo)sony eggos a few people on the forums have been talking about. I heard their comfortable, and I need some comfortable headphones badly.

I don't know if it helps, but here's a review I wrote some time ago.
