Hi Chris.

In general the new server (when it is working) is much more responsive than the old. Seamless transition too.... except for the down time. Is there anyone who would like to receive immediate email with information about outage, or perhaps is there some monitoring system that checks to see if that web server is there, that would notify whoever is able to restart the server?

Also I see atraclife.org still in your signature. Has it died, or is it just comatose, awaiting a DNS entry?

Thanks again for all your behind the scenes work.

Stephen

We are aware of some issues with the new server and memory..we will be addressing that soon.

Are you and Ishii also aware of the number of porn spam posts that have been taking place on the ATRACLife Colloquium? So far, as of this morning, I am the last real registered user on there who is not either a spammer or a bot.

Hey Chris, and while we are at it, what can we do to get some filters or guards to prevent spammers/bots from registering of both boards? This is getting ridculous! I did not register with the ALC and the MDCF to read about porn sites or buy prescriptions online, thank you.

It's time to clean house on both of the boards (both the ALC and MDCF), how can we shrink the memberlist down so that only real users are in the system as opposed to the over-inflated numbers that have been caused by spammers/bots?

There are now filters in place to greatly minimize spam that occurs here and ATRACLife. I have been working very hard the last few days to bring stabilization to both sites and restore the speed that we all used to know and love years ago. Things are most certainly snappier now, and I will be monitoring it accordingly. Please email me immediately at christopher (at) sonyinsider (dawt) com if you notice any issues.

The Gallery is having issues but should be fully fixed by tomorrow. Thank you for your patience.

Hey Chris , I will agree with the Snappy , it seems that is loads quite a bit faster , it is just that when it goes down ,........ it stays down for awhile .

Three days at a time , not three hours . I hope that gets stabilized .

We appreciate the forums , a lot , so forgive the blatant displays of pubescent reactions when it goes down

Hi Eric,

is it - in some way - possible to get the entire content of the whole minidisc.org via a readonly ftp connection (or even on a DVD - I would of course pay for that.)? One big advantage would be that there isnt any ads in the html-files. Whats more, I just feel that minidisc.org wont be online forever especially since the format has died.

I often find myself still looking up certain devices on the MDCP.

kind regards,

Hi,

Thanks for the note. I plan to keep the Minidisc.org server online indefinitely, but your suggestion is a good one. Let me look into it. What do you think a fair price for such a DVD would be -- including postage?

Hi,

well, I dont know what a fair price for such a DVD would be, however, I would pay up to US$100 if it had all the files and no google ads.

btw: the new server sucks.... plenty of dropouts!

I'm trying as hard as possible to resolve the issues, Guitar. Please stay positive. There is no need to abandon your activities on the site as things will stabilize soon. I've purchased more memory for the server for the time being until we can fix some of the memory leaks that are happening with the site that cause it to crash accordingly.

Just out of curiosity, Chris, as one techie to another, what exactly was leaking/crashing?

Sorry for just getting to this now; school has been overwhelming lately. Nonetheless, after some ossec issues, the memory was just too low and there was too much running in the background. After inspecting top I realized I had three security programs running at once, unnecessarily consuming excessive RAM. The forums and atraclife couldn't really run when those programs are occupying all the RAM, so they hit the swap file. The swap file was getting nuked so it would crash.

I got rid of a few things and optimized others and hopefully it should be silky smooth for a while. Thanks guys for your understanding. Hopefully I can get the Gallery fixed soon.
