Sadly this deck does not work properly, Pierre tested it recently as cipher81 was also interested. But there is MANY midi sized decks in stock. Even ones with MDLP and NetMD. Check the list then the equipment browser of www.minidisc.org : Denon, Teac and Technics but also Sony MDS-NT1, Sony MDS-PCx...

It is sadly what happened to bobt's deck during is shipping.
It is very important to open the deck and protect the section power from any damage during the long trip.

If you live in Saigon, we can share our love of the MD format. Pierre live in France so the shiping will be HUGE for Vietnam. Anyway the MDS-W1 is not anymore available. But you have another option, to buy a deck in Vietnam. I have already checked in Saigon, they are in Nhat Tao area (in poor electronic - sound distorsion - sometime), you will have a better choice with boomboxes and bookshelves. Or, but expensive, in the shop behind Song A in Huỳnh Thúc Kháng street. If you want to make digital copies of your MDs, just find a deck with a coax digital out (up to you to have a coax to toslink adaptator after if you copy on a portable MD unit... I have that adaptator). This is what I have with my MDS-B5 deck. If you want to transfer your music from your MDS I have a MZ-RH1 (upload).
