The bidding on this mini disc is getting very high surely it would have been cheaper to buy the last model Sony have made or was this a superior model ?

Well I certainly wouldn't buy an item from someone claiming to have bought it 17 years ago! (see the listing)

A bit high, but it is one of the best MD's made from POV of workmanship, made in Japan (as opposed to most that were from Malaysia). Top of the line.

I recall someone on the board here claiming to have picked one (or even two) up a couple of years back for under 50 quid. So you're right, it's a bit excessive, too.

I still have mine which I bought new in 2004. The seller of this unit obviously has issues with basic mathematics, but it looks like he'll be laughing all the way to the bank!

It is a solidly built unit but without the remote it is tough to use. Mine is still in new condition, I should sell it, for cash like that I would for sure ...

You're right, there is no sign of the remote. Without the RM-MC40ELK this is in many ways a very expensive paperweight. Mind you a cheap remote (rm-mc38el) can be had for $10, so the problem is not terminal.

The remote is in there - check out the third-last pic.

Still, it's a fair chunk of cash for the lot. Reminds of that recent e10 auction.

if it was the gold version, these bids'd make sense - hard to tell from the pics though.

Right, I only saw the first 5 pictures when I looked last time.

Looks to me like the whole thing has a gold tinge because of the reflected light, so I very much doubt it.

If it could be the brown version, it would be darker.

Looks to be the standard silver model to me. The NH1's (and N10/E10) suffer from external wear quite easily. The striated silver finish wears and turns black very easily, so to a true collector the money may be a realistic figure. I have been watching ebay.co.uk for years now, and I can't recall seeing more than one or two mint examples of this machine coming up, if it is indeed mint. The packaging certainly looks that way, and all the plastic bags are originals.

I do think however there is some shill bidding going on. If you look at all the other items being sold, the two watches and the three MD recorders have similar bidding patterns, where a low-feedback bidder has put in three or more bids in quick succession and only slightly incremental in value each time. I would guess this guy has access to several eBay ids and is using them to the full. Hell, I have access to four eBay ids and I'm not even trying hard.
