On Ebay from UK there are copies of
Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum Production Suite 10

that include as a separate program ,the latest I think, Sound Forge Audio Studio 10.0

http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1423.l2649

all for 23.99 UK pounds incl postage. Delivery for me was next day and very fast

As you all know I expect, Sound Forge Audio Studio is one of the few editors that can load and edit Atrac files

Get this and get a decent video editor thrown in for free

Thank you! Too bad I cannot trade in either the copy of Sound Forge 9 LE that I paid for, or any of the three(!) copies of SF9LE that subsequently came free with ICD-SX750, ICD-SX950 or PCM-M10, but that's life. I bought it for the ability (hope!) to batch commands that is missing from the LE edition. Of course there's lots of video stuff there too which I mostly rely on NeroVision for, but a couple of times wished for the facilities advertised by Vegas. We shall see....

I have been using Sony's Vegas Movie Studio package since version 5 and it is really an awesome video editing tool. Both of the versions I have include DVD Architect Studio as well which is a great tool for mastering DVDs. Vegas Studio has some rudimentary abilities for editing ATRAC files as well. I always figured it would be to record audio separate from the video and then dropping it on the timeline and syncing it up.

I have never used this functionality or even tried to open an ATRAC file in Vegas Studio. My older versions do not include the Acid Studio software. That price seems pretty good. If I recall I paid around 100US for each of my copies. Maybe it's time to upgrade ...

Azureal, the component that will edit atrac audio files is a separate program called Sound Forge Audio Studio that you can buy separate, and is included. I think though that the Vegas Movie Studio part will also manage atrac files. The whole package incudes the DVD Architect you mention. The Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum Production Suite 10 I just bought is not the latest though, thats why it is cheap, but the Sound Forge Audio Studio component does seem to be the latest - It is a realy good fast editor

Understood, Sound Forge has been around for many years. It is not included in my Version 6 of Vegas Movie Studio and DVD Architect Studio, take 'Studio' to mean the 'Light' version, because compared to Vegas it is ...

As I said before, Vegas Studio 5 and 6 will read and perform rudimentary editing on ATRAC files but Sound Forge is far more capable for editing all sorts of audio. Even a 2 year old version for that price is a good buy, it was selling for 120US 18 months ago ...

Just so that no one else is misled into thinking this is Sound Forge Pro..... I got my copy, but it's the "normal" Sound Forge 10 (an update all the same, so I'm not complaining).

SFPro is a separate product. I haven't installed this yet, but I strongly suspect the batch facilities continue to be missing from SF (standard edition).

Exactly right.. it's the only editor that deals with OMA files (oma files are generally encrypted so it cannot do those) and can read and generate every flavour, bitrate of the many different ATRAC formats (except of course SP which Sony never allowed on disk, probably by contract with Dolby, we think).
