Grundig MD35 mech error

Dear all,

I have a Grundig MD35 - it's a midi-sized machine which popped up under various brands over the years. I bought it new and it only had light use before I stored it (having bought a MD LP separate deck).

I dusted it down today and inserted a disc which played perfectly. BUT... when I ejected the disc and inserted another it flashed a mecha error message at me.

I've popped the case off and examined the mech. The disc inserts and ejects fine but once it is loaded the disc doesn't spin.

Could this be a belt issue and - if so - does anyone have a schematic of the mech? I've worked on Sony mechs and found them easy to repair but this one looks like a different level of hard.

Any help would be appreciated.
