  1. Not funny. Maybe we've been had, enjoy your career with A***e.
  2. You've had a serious crash (a GPF). Did you try rebooting Windows, checking that the node in the registry really was gone (after reboot), and once confirmed, restarting Sonic Stage?
  3. Once we confirm that this *was* the problem, I will fix the original reply and sticky the thread
  4. Ah maybe you are running under Windows-64........ In which case it will be at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Sony Corporation\SonicStage\EMD\HomeURL
  5. mea culpa. yes, I meant output
  6. Guys.... does the half second correspond to the S/PDIF setup time? Maybe it doesn't do it with analogue output?
  7. If it works with the RM-MC35EL(K) then the RM-MC38EL is probably your best bet, since they have been available for $10 or less for a while. See for example here: http://shop.ebay.com/?_nkw=rm-mc38el
  8. So far I have only run into one unit that I could not adjust to fix..... touch wood
  9. I just typed a reply in and then hit a key by accident and it disappeared. Let's do this offline anyway. It's probably worth fixing them because if maladjusted the unit is likely going to outright die much sooner than if corrected. I have a strange feeling the same exact pair of decks was asked about (he had had some service guys fix them). Will take a bit of time to find the reference. Stephen
  10. Try google translate, I got this: http://translate.google.ca/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&sl=ko&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwemd.kr%2Fphp%2Fboard.php%3Fboard%3Dmdtnfl%26page%3D1%26sort%3Dhit%26command%3Dbody%26no%3D30%26nohit%3D1%26replafter%3D1%26backstepnum%3D2%26itnocache%3D1300882814%26%23repfocus1
  11. You need a meter. I managed it once because the IOP number from the replacement head had not been entered into the NVRAM. Unless you know it was serviced like that (someone here mentioned something like this), i.e. the guys had replaced the head but not updated the IOP, then the meter is the only sensible way to do it. Maybe you bought it from that guy who was asking the same question
  12. The MZ-R91 is almost more common, but AFAIK they are essentially the same machine. Same generation, certainly.
  13. That's not a proper link and it just happens to coincide with someone else asking about N10. I wonder if there's something funny going on here..... (a few minutes later) It does appear that THIS LINK has a resource we have looked for many times. I am going to copy it for myself and speak to our leader about putting the lot in the downloads area.
  14. You need to follow the alignment procedure. You will need 1 pre-mastered, non-writeable MD (any will do, this is referred to as a "CD" in the jargon) and one blank standard MD ("MO"). The alignment procedure will recalculate all the servo parameters. It's possible to completely ignore it but definitely not recommended. If you need to you can send to someone. There a couple of people here who may be able to help. PS.. the patchwriter won't actually help you, it has to do with NetMD mostly. Here it is anyway http://esi.sony.ca/esupport/esupport/NetMD/MZ-N10/
  15. sounds like they each need a laser power adjust. It's possible the overwrite head is gone but I doubt it as you would be complaining that all attempts to record end in blank disk even when you started out with a partially full one.
  16. Bump... does anyone in UK have any idea what's different about the NWZ-S754 or 755 there, that allows Sonic Stage (aka X-application) to treat the walkman like an Atrac device? I for one would like to charge this beautiful thing with my nice library of ATRAC rather than converting to MP3. Or perhaps confirm that the reports are inaccurate and that the S754 works the same way in all versions (perhaps except Japan)? Stephen
  17. Now you mention it, Sonic Stage has some weird background processes. Check and see if SSAAD.exe is running. See the first tip here: (with a little more research this appears to be related to mp3 files). Two possibilities arise: 1. it's essential for MP3 usage and the lack of it is messing you up 2. it's inessential for MP3's and the presence of it is messing you up. I have no clue, because MP3's for me have been nothing but trouble.
  18. Not so fast. I have seen weird things with MP3's. The problem may be that the format does not *per se* guarantee an ID Tag. In efforts to be compatible with files that do have ID tags (note Windows Media Player, for example asks you if you want it to retrieve information from the internet) and possibly for other, DRM-related reasons, I have noticed (often) that an MP3 file which gets played by some MP3 software players, is MODIFIED (by that player). Sonic Stage which used to believe in the integrity of that file now sees it as having changed. And will not transfer it. You might want to study very very carefully the exact sequence of operations you put an MP3 through, and also look at the date stamp and file size to see if it changed after being played (by other players than Sonic Stage). I think it was this that stopped mine from being transferred. One more detail: are you logged on as "admin"? (seems so from the location) Perhaps you should put your temporary files in a place that no one except you and Sonic Stage know about (eg C:\mySSfiles or some name you made up). If some background process is updating the wretched things you'll never ever get there unless you guarantee that nothing else modifies them.
  19. did you actually delete them from SS?
  20. It may be that SS doesn't handle Variable Bit Rate MP3's - I recall some weird comment to that effect. However I am far from being an expert on MP3. Do they PLAY in Sonic Stage?
  21. Nah, just delete the MP3's from the SonicStage database (but not from the computer) and re-add them. In addition, you might want to find where SS puts the temporary files that they get converted to, because most likely the old converted file is lying around and SS somehow objects to this. They will be called <song>.oma where your original is <song>.mp3
  22. I just received a Sony MDS-PC3 from Pierre's huge collection (with the encouragement of PhilippeC who is moderating these transactions here on SIF). Wonderful condition, fast shipping, no problems whatsoever. Highly recommended deal. Stephen
  23. Sort of a long story here. Starts with the acquisition of an MDS-PC3 (feedback for Pierre and PhilippeC, fantastic service, will be left very shortly in buyer forum). Then I find: a. the MDS-PC3 has ability to use CDDB to find track titles from internet but can only record x1 from CD on PC b. the other PClinkable device I have (CMT-PX3 otherwise known as HCD-MD595) can record from its own CD at x4 but cannot get connected to the PC's CD and/or get title information from CDDB/Gracenote. So if I could have both connected would be wonderful. I can daisychain the optical connections just fine, but the PCLink connection from USB is more of a problem. 1. Is there a way to connect multiple I2C devices to PCLink (and thence MCrew)? 2. Is there a way to make MCrew recognize multiple PClink MN10's (which I now have)? Unfortunately I tried 2 and got several hard crashes of Windows XP. No idea why. The device driver for second PClink got installed but random freeze of everything (Ethernet, Keyboard, Mouse even when second PClink no longer connected to USB socket). All contributions gratefully received. Stephen
  24. You don't. So far I have been lucky. I don't see why you should not be, too.
  25. Fair enough, but the part that's bent is (in all fairness) probably metal. Stephen
