  1. Yes, I appreciate your attention, Stephen - don't feel that I'm wandering around without help anymore - thank you! I'll try your suggestions over the next 24 hrs - it's getting late here, and get back to you once I've deactivated automatic updates and Defender & cleaned any residual files. Really grateful for your help. Top Man!!! Regards, Jon
  2. Hello Inquisitor, Thank you for getting back to me so swiftly - I'm sorry I wasn't here to see your reply. Yes, thought I was in heaven again, listening to the quality of sound on my minidiscs after spending too long in MP3 wilderness! Please understand that I have a smattering of computer protocol - like most I keep on trying until a miracle occurs. To answer your questions:- Yes, NetMD, (Had to buy the cradle on e-bay because I'd lost mine). Downloaded the 'Ultimate' version from here. Have an MZ-N1 for transfer and an MZ-R70 to listen to. When everything went tits up, I uninstalled everything using Revo and then began the laborious task of trying to download once more. I have trawled the net and found several Sonic Stage 4:3 programmes and tried them all, one by one. All of these gave me an error before installation could take place and 'terminated' abruptly. The ultimate on this site, however, took me through the (5?) processes of installation, but halted on the OpenMG installation. I'm uncertain if I'm on 'automatic updates', so it's probable that I'm not. First thing I attempted was a system restore, but it didn't go back far enough, I'm afraid. Because I've seen so many 'versions' of SS on the net, is there one that you would recommend for my configuration? And... do I install the driver for my mediaplayer first (NETMD 760), or first try to mount the SS? As I said, when I install the Ultimate edition all looks fine and dandy in the program list, but click on it and I'm advised to restart. When I restart, it's gone. Doh!
  3. I'm in a similar predicament. Windows 7 64-bit I downloaded SS from the forum a couple of weeks ago without any problems at all. It worked brilliantly, for two days, so I know this computer is able to mount it. When I cleaned the registry, it failed. I removed all registry files & associated SS material, and tried to re-install. No luck - been at it for many days now. Always get stuck half way through installation. Curiously, when I've downloaded, if I go to the program, in the start menu, all the icons are there. If I click on SS, it says I must restart my computer before SS can work. However, when I restart, all those icons are now 'greyed out' and non-functioning. Very frustrating! Have tried to run as admin. but get the same result. Was thinking about getting an original disc on e-bay and seeing if that works...but I'm sceptical. I must be doing something wrong because I have already downloaded with success! Is there a step-by-step procedure, for doiks like me, who need to be spoon-fed? Do you think an original Sony disc will be more immediate? Any help gratefully acknowledged - been tearing my hair out here! Thank you, Jon
