1. I think you're reading the wrong forum if you choose between MP3 and minidisc's using a price/feature comparison...
2. Thats a similar position to me. But with the RH1 being hyped so much on this forum as some kind of wonder player, it's hard to be be intrigued. Maybe I'll just get one from Amazon, and return it if i'm not blown away.
3. I'm considering the jump to Hi-MD and getting the RH1 as my player-for-everything. It's a lot of money still though so I need to be sure whether it's worth me buying it or just sticking with what I have. What's it like selecting an album on the RH1, assuming you have a good few on a 1GB disc? Can it be done without the remote? The display in the pictures looks to be just one line high, does that make it hard to select albums? How about using the RM-MC40ELK instead? Thanks for your help.
4. In the FAQ it says the have a 30 year shelf life.. is that just the integrity of the recording? Could I then format it and reuse it?
5. Hey Guys, Is there such a thing as a HiMD minidisc hifi seperate that allows USB uploading? Or is it just line in/Optical?
6. What's that "MD Walkman" in the bottom right? Doesn't look very portable! Got a retro chic charm to it though.
7. I'm using Sonic Stage 4.3 fine on Windows 7 RC1. I did have to install the Vista NetMD driver, however.
8. Yes that's true. Also when iPod's eventually appeared, they were quite big. It wasn't until they were small enough for the gym that they exploded. Having said that, Apple market share in the UK has always been flimsy. iPod is by far the most popular player but on a day to day basis I see a lot of older ones, or Creative Zen's. iPhones are still a rare sight. Even in central london.
9. OK I've tried it. And it truly is excellent. As for using it to record to minidisc, I'm not so sure. Maybe i'm old fashioned, but I think this kind of processing belongs on the player, not on the recording. Ideally, the music should be as "flat" (bad choice of words i admit) as possible so the quality bass enhancers, etc of the player can have the best effect.

I will be using it to play my MP3s from the computer, however
10. Thanks for the tip! I'll certainly give it a go. I just assumed that using SS to transfer the audio directly to the md without going through my rubbish sound card would produce a better quality recording. Any tips for what kind of volume I should play them at for recording?
11. Was MD exceptionally popular in the UK or something? Amazon UK sells brand new MZ-RH1's and I only have to walk into HMV to pick up a box of new blank MD80s...
12. Personally, I use my Sharp MD-X5 to copy CDs straight to MD, but this unit only allows SP so i'm kind of stuck. However, except on the move, I'm not sure when I'd need more than one album per disk. I do have an Hi-MD recorder (an MZ-NH600), but it only really gets used for burning mp3s to SP using sonic stage. Maybe if my primary home MD player was capable of the later formats I'd be different, but I'm in no hurry to replace it.
