  1. Ok, Success!!!!!! Turns out that I had to go into the registry and remove any and all remnants of OMG and SS. Once this was done, I rebooted, even though it was not necessary. Once I rebooted, I reinstalled SS 4.3. I left the Drivers alone completely. Once SS was installed and pc rebooted, I started up SS and it loaded completely, then I plugged in the md player and the right side of SS opened up with the md player and the disc in it. Only problem is, I cannot transfer music from the disc back into SS, which is one of the reason I got the MD. Thank you all for trying to help. I know you did the best you could with limited info.
  2. That, unfortunately is not an option for me. I would love to get this portable NetMD up and running with the software since the pc has accepted the device for the provided drivers from this forum. I just cannot get the software to boot without errors.
  3. I just tried to reinstall SS and I get the same error. is there another software similar to SS that can be used instead for the MD player/recorder? Or will I have the same problems?
  4. The device installed just fine. The problem I am having is that SS will not boot. The MD player works fine with the new drivers, but cannot get SS to boot.
  5. Well, good news and bad news. I will start with the good news first. I installed SS 4.3 from the forums with no problems. I had unpacked both the drivers and SS in their own folders. Once SS was installed, I rebooted. I then took the drivers and placed them in the personal audio file under sony. I then cut and pasted the new drivers into that folder, connected the md player, updated drivers, got a warning telling me that the drivers could not be verified, but installed anyway, and got it to recognize the MD player. Now, the bad news. Once i got the drivers or md player to recognize the drivers etc., I started SS and it got a portion of the way booted, then it shut down. There was an error or something that cause it to shut down. Then I tried to reboot SS again and i get the following error again: The selected music file cannot be played back because the system information has been changed. Click OK to automatically close sonic stage and open SonicStage System Information Restore Tool (Error Code: 00004e2e) Now, I did not allow it nor did SS give me an option to import music from the HDD at anytime. Where do I go from here. I did follow some advice about adding "devmgr_show_devices" etc and found my system to be free and clear of all netMD software with the exception of what I did this morning. Where did I go wrong?
  6. Where do I find the .cat and .sys files? In under the sony audio drivers folder? If that is the case, then I need to move the new drivers I just DL'd to that folder, direct the pc to that folder to install the correct driver?
  7. Since the above has happened, I have not tried to install the software again. I ave completely removed SS and drivers for the MD and awaiting further help. One thing that was different is when I removed the software and the openMG software, I got no error this time and I have thoroughly gone through my system and files to remove any reminence of the software that I could find, including all drivers relating to it and the MD player. 8. ok, I have just reinstalled SS 4.3 from the forums After in went through my system files and removed all drivers and anything related to SS and rebooted. I just went to start SS and I get this error: The selected music file cannot be played back because the system information has been changed. Click OK to automatically close sonic stage and open SonicStage System Information Restore Tool (Error Code: 00004e2e) now, I close SS and let it open the tool and I get an error with a blank window, have to close out of it and uninstall and try to reinstall the software with the same results. What can I do from here?
  9. ok I have gone through my files and removed any drivers and software related to netmd and rebooted. I have downloaded the drivers and the SS4.3 from the forums and getting ready to install. SS 3.2 did import some music files from Itunes, but ended in an error and was not able to complete the process. I will install the SS 4.3 Ultimate #2 from the forums and go from there. If there is anything else, please let me know.
  10. I did reboot after removing the software, but something did not get removed completely because when I try to reinstall, it asks me if I want to install over existing files. I installed over the original software that Sony provided. Now, it came with SS 3.2, should I install that in the win xp shell then install the SS 4.3 over that?
  11. Ok, I have read all 4 pages in this section of the forum. I understand most of it, but I have no programming experience under my belt and have no idea how to modify any .inf file. Now, I know how to get to them, but I do not know how to modify them and I am afraid to make changes thinking I will mess up my OS (windows 7 Home Premium, sorry that I did not mention it in the previous post). I have tried what you said to install SS 4.3 #2 over the original and I now cannot get SS 4.3 to load. I get an error. I have tried numerous times to uninstall and reinstall SS 4.3 and the openMG secure module and meet up with an error that I don't have time ot read before the system shuts down for reboot. The drivers are still not loaded for the MD, even with the SS 4.3 #2. I have been working on this problem for about 12 hrs now and it is starting to frustrate me.
  12. I just bought a NetMD MZ-DN430 minidisc player. I have upgraded the software the software sonicstage to 4.3 with the windows 7 compatibility mode. I still cannot get sonicstage to recognize my minidisc player. I have installed the drivers that came on the CD that came with the MD Player, but windows 7 does not recognize them. When I go to device and printers and right click on the MD Player >properties>Hardware tab> properties again then the details tab and there are 2 files: USB\VID_054C&PID_00CA&REV_0100 USB\VID_054C&PID_00CA I have tried everything that I could think of to get the system to recognize the MD Player. My Laptop is a Sony Vaio VGN SR530. it is a 64 bit system running windows 7 preinstalled. it's processor is 2.2Ghz with 8gigs of ram. I have used an NE430 version of the player before, but I had windows 2000 pro and no problems. If there is anyone that can help, Please.
