LP4 is dynamically compressed in terms of the lowest to the highest volume. in other words it sounds "sat on". I use LP4 for sports radio. LP2 for FM radio music broadcasts and SP for CD or vinyl recording.
-
PCM is the same as CD quality no lossy compression present.

Because they have no use for the blanks anymore. Its more preferable that they do unless it increase the postage.

The S/H RH1 i bought off ebay has a few dints on the underbelly. The display i also darker on the left side of the screen. I use the rh1 to transfer music to the Sonicstage. The jb980 deck i use to record vinyl and the radio

It used to be 4 seconds on tape decks for skipping tracks. SO even increasing it up to 4000 might make things more consistently split.

Did you enter the gap correctly in foobar prefs? Its in 1/1000 of a sec IIRC so you might have done 2 milliseconds. The plugin works for me as 4000 ie 4secs

Better CD optical ATRAC SP/LP2/LP4 recordings
trotter replied to Sony_Fan's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
I am not sure how that can happen. Surely something that is clipping with still have that sound even when the recoding level is turned down. Unless ATRAC lossy compression takes some of the edge of the clipping? -
Yeah the TOC theory does sound logical. I have used about 20 of the tdk mdrxg and have had no problem either. Mainly though i have used sony colour or sony premium disks again with no problem.

ATRAC 1 ATRAC 2 ATRAC 3 ATRAC 3.5 1993 (Too early due to DCC) 1994 1995 Current Bit skewwed but its the only info i could find quickly. ATRAC 3.0 arrived in 1995 So the prerecorded disk mentioned is v3.5 or later
-
I think we are missing something in this discussion. That is the version of ATRAC that was used to record the music. It wasnt until ATRAC v4.0 that minidisc really did sound good and AFAIK the prerecorded MDs were done before v4.0. If it was v4.0 or after that the MD was pressed then it should sound better. I only have one prerecorded MD and it sounds awful. Very thin sounding. Martin

I dont mean the 3.7V rechargable 1047? batteries but the disposable lithium batterys that are 1.5v or 1.6v rathr than the lower 1.4v 1.5V when new. Energiser brand does them. Sadly i only have AAA and no AA to test if it works. BTW just charged my RH10 with a MZN1 3V charger 500ma. (I couldnt find the RH10 genuine charger so dont know the current it outputs)
-
If a battery is required how about a higher voltage lithium battery? That should have more success than the usual alkaline AA battery in the compartment.
-
Loud as it can go via the volume control or the recording level?

Have people got suggestions on what I could set my recording deck to with different sources for auto track split? LS -14db is what i have it set for at the moment for radio recording. How about Vinyl recording? and CD recording?
-
Lo, Most most minidisc decks do this and yes it is convienent if you know roughly the time when you will want to stop FFwding. Martin

Cant say I have had any problems with blank MDs from 1 sony 2 tdk 3 sharp 4 maxell 5 hi-space I many use sony though.
-
Are you sure they are not defeatable? There is usually a setting for "rest of the world" when you reset a mp3 player which gets around the EU limits. As to the sansa clip I have had one for a year and the battery is at half capacity so while i like them they do not last long. I do like the microSD slot on them though.

Havent seen a minidisc recorder in CC for months now

TBH i do it the old fashioned way and just play my cd through a digital output into my MD recorder. Dont know if its the best way.
