Actually- it aint no joke, my friend. Why would they level-match devices for Double-Blind ABX tests if 0.5dB is inaudible?

Almost all of recent Sony walkmans have what-so-called 'DONSHARI' sound signature. Some may find this V-shaped frequency response his/her liking, while others may not. RH1 with 32ohm load: http://209.85.173.104/search?q=cache:DYR50...;cd=1&gl=kr RH1 with 50ohm load VS D2 with 50ohm load: http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showpost.php...mp;postcount=31 A80X: http://www.mobile-review.com/mp3/review/sony_A800-en.shtml HD5: http://phonephile.blogspot.com/2005/06/hd5s-got-secret.html I have tested my S703 with RMAA as well, and it has 'DONSHARI' too. (in contrast, A1000 has a flat response under load) *DONSHARI: http://www.google.com/search?q=cache:oO1fA...%B7%AB%E3%AB%EA
  3. Yeah- I was wondering as well... Why do u need a serv manual?? (hacking into the FW? DIY repair? Mod?) hmm..
  4. Yes, S610 is seriously underated... IMO, the Sony mp3 DAPs that can match with S610 are A910 & A1000 series only. I've compared S610 w/ A800&A810, and I have to say S610 sounds better than those two with less background hiss noise. (tested w/ MDR-EX082) The only letdowns for S610 are the filmsy-looking design and the not-so-responsive plastic buttons.

    NW-S706 Dies

Yes, 706 has a weakness- but not the one you're referring to. The most common problem for S70Xs (The ones with the NC feature) is the weak headphone jack. Due to the filmsy construction of the NC port, the headphone jack becomes loose and goes dead. I think your S706 is just a defected one.
  6. Hmm I dunno then, Im afraid it's not even released yet...

  8. No, They sound all same to me- since their HWs are identical. (even the FW bug is same) Did you even notice S61X has slightly less White Noise than the other two??? (I tested with MDR-EX082) ...HEY, WAIT.. YOU'RE THE ONE WHO HOAXED EVERYONE AT DAPREVIEW.NET WITH A FALSE ZV:M FW VIDEO!!! I'm still mad at you, man. ARRRGH

    A91X new photos

Uhmm... Honestly, A91X looks like this guy Not necessarily a ripoff, yet pretty funny. LOL.
  10. Alright. Convert the song into Atrac on SonicStage, and try compare the original MP3 and converted ATR on the player simultaneously. You'll see what's up.
  11. Yeah- Still, the stupid problem annoys me quite a lot. I can't believe the same problem occurs on 3 diff devices. Sony better fix it in the next FW update...
  12. ??? I don't get it... DL the file and load it up on your device. (A80X/A81X/S61X) You may just click on the link to DL, or try to right click on the link and 'SAVE-AS'. EDIT: Just in case, I fixed the header on the file.
  13. OK, one day I was playing a song(MP3), and these players just played this file in MONO... Then I found out that A80X & A81X & S61X have a problem playing 'DUAL-STEREO' encoded MP3 files. This does not occur if the file is encoded in 'JOINT STEREO', 'STEREO' or other audio formats. Has anyone ever experienced this problem? The attached file is in 'Dual-Stereo'. Test it by yourself- Play it on your computer first. The music is completely STEREO. And then play the file on the device. It will be MONO. BTW, May I ask you guys a favor? Would you like to share the 'default images & songs' that came with the player? I accidentally formatted my S618, and there's no way I could retrieve the default data back. (sold my A80X/A81X already.) I actually liked some of the songs in there -
