    Editing in SS

Update, I was able to divide/combine PCM tracks...but not WAV or MP3 (just as you said).

I guess that would be too much to ask, lol. But if I find it does work for PCM, I will update everyone. But that brings up another somewhat unrelated question: Is there an integrated way to turn PCM files recorded by my M200 into MP3 form? Also, is there some simple software out there that would actually allow one to edit, combine, divide MP3's in the way we have been used to doing for years with MD? Thanks, I will give that a try. Seems like you told me that before a while back, but I have slept a few times since then.

    Editing in SS

I remember some time back someone told me how one can edit material (divide, combine, etc) in Sonic Stage. But after hours of searching, I could not find any info on this. Additionally, will I be restricted to music that has been uploaded, or can I edit music on a disc while my MZ-M200 is attached to the computer. And I am sure this is wishful thinking - but can one combine, divide, etc. all formats (PCM, MP3, etc) or just Atracs? thanks
  4. I second these are excellent units...I have a couple. One thing I would like to add is that these are pretty much the perfect companion for the MZ-200/RH1 since the E105 will play anything that those units will record. So the E105 is perfect for the professional to review recordings made of live music recorded in Atrac 3+, or WAV portably...while leaving the expensive recording unit at home or in the studio. Is there anything negative I can say? Well, the ff and rew is quite slow, so if you are playing MP3 podcasts, which are rarely broken up to anything shorter than 30 minutes per track, it takes literally several minutes to get to, say the middle. Also, you will find the "hold" feature to be something to use religiously, as the whole face is the controls...and is easy to bump when the unit is in your pocket...ending you often to the next track. And if it is a podcast, go back to my earlier sentence...long time to find your place again. Also, I have never gotten anything close to the battery life that is specified, regardless of battery type. However, I simply bought a 4 pack of AAA rechargeable and don't worry about that anymore.
  5. Hey, just wondering if anyone has made an "equipment browser" for the Atrac flash units, similar to what they have on minidisc.org for mindisc units? It has most of the units ever made listed in chronological order with a picture and a short summary for each. Heck, even if there isn't one, is there maybe a list of flash players that support Atrac?
  6. Hello, I currently have a few Sony flash players (3 NW-E105/107's). I was wondering if anyone has tried using a Sony flash player with any recent car deck that has a USB input sucessfully. I assume that at least the Sony decks (for example the GT410U) will control a Sony flash player?

    NW-E103/105/107 Bitrates?

Thanks! It seems like the 96 is the one I've tried a couple times, and it doesn't work...but it's so tempting for some reason. I will add that 352 works too...I have used that once. However I had used that in "lossless compression" so that may have something to do with it.
  8. Hello, I was wondering if anyone has a list of the specific bitrates the "psyc" stop watch style flash players will accept. The problem is that these units were built when SS 3.0 was out, and I have SS 4.2 on my computer...so it has quite a few newer bitrates that these won't play. So if anyone is currently running 3.0, please let me know of the transfer bitrates on the drop down list...or if someone just happens to know. The manual gives no list at all...and only mentions a few bitrates for the sake of telling hom much time will fit on the player using them...and I have found quite a few more than work through trial and error...but also frustratingly several that won't work. Any help?
  9. FWIW, I jumped on the LP2/4 (132/66) bandwagon when it first came out, as I was a hardcore SP MD user at the time. Sadly after trying both new rates, I decided both were pretty much junk. I too found 132 to sound really flat, and 66 was pure mud. The units I had bought were a PC3, and a Net MD which I pretty much put back in the box, even felt guilty for buying it, and I sold the PC3. However, a couple years ago, a friend of mine was getting out of the MD world, and sold me all of his equipment cheap: another (identical) Net MD, a KMD-44, and a MDS-JE440. He told me he had always used LP4 for everything. I thought he was nutz!!! I continued to use the newly aquired equipment in SP mode for a couple years. Then a few months ago, I finally aquired a M200, so I needed one bitrtate that would work in my portable (E105), as well as be something I could upload, download, etc. freely between all of my equipment without conversions...something everything would play. So I gave LP2 another try. To my surprise when using the JE440 to make recordings, music sounded almost spot-on with SP, even back to back wearing mid grade quality studio headphones. After some research, I found that (home) decks actually encode much better from various reviews and techno-speak I read...which would explain it. So after this I thought, well, let's see how good ol' LP4 sounds via the same home deck. Well, I used it for talk radio, and it did great...no obvious artifacts at all...and I do get them when using a Net MD to record the same thing. I have not done a LP4 music evaluation, but might soon (but since memory is so cheap, what would be the point). For that matter, the only reason I use 66 for talk is because of the sheer length of radio shows like C2C...so I can put a full 5 hour show on a standard MD...or put several shows on my E105. So all in all, don't rule out LP2/LP4 totally. Sure, I would love to have the flexibility of any bitrate working with everything...but the LP Atrac3 rates are OK...not great, but OK...and play in every last thing I have...including flash portable, MD car deck, etc.
