  1. The X800XL, but the 6600GT is the best well-rounded card overall.
  2. This is not true for hardware drivers, as I've said I'm not having any problems with 64-bit Windows and I have a variety of hardware devices - such as a Chaintech AV710, Radeon X850XT, etc. Let's not keep discussing fallacies of 64-bit Windows, let's focus on his upgrade needs.. As for the 6600GT, I just upgraded from one (BFG 6600GT OC to be precise). At 1024x768, it's really not that bad when you've got the AA at 2x and the AF at 4x for most games, but that's about as high as you can go without dipping into unacceptable framerate limits. It really depends on the game, though.
  3. Well, there is that. Hi-MD works in 64-bit, but NetMD doesn't. I would put upgrading to Windows XP 64-bit on the lowest priority, RAM and graphics card is much more important. As for what to purchase, I really recommend you wait just a little bit and find a 6800 for a good price.
  4. I'm not having any problems with XP 64-bit. What kind of resolution do you run, and do you run any eye-candy (anti-alaising, etc), veez?
  5. First off, get 64-bit Windows. It's the shizzy. The ram will have to go to 1gb (with at least 2ish timings on, and then wait a month or two as AGP cards will decline in price and get a high end 6800 ultra or higher end Radeon X850 class. I just upgraded from a 2800 to a 3700, a socket 754 like yours. Wow, what a difference that makes. It's amazing how ghz can influence an Athlon.
  6. Happy belated indeed. Sorry the posts got lost but if you check out the "State of the Forums" thread you'll understand why. This is your last year of being a teenager, enjoy!
  7. Any way I could see a picture of these with you wearing them? That's bloody cool.
  8. If you want to learn about the "new" Minidisc, Hi-MD, read here: http://www.sony.net/Products/Hi-MD/
  9. I think it's a shame that Sony wasn't able to wrangle the DRM so people could upload ATRAC3plus recordings to a Apple computer and left it limited to PCM. It would've been useful.

You're just jealous of my character's cybernetic arm that gives him +10m sniping range. It works wonders with the ladies, too. *ducks*
  11. Well, I probably won't add icons because I want to keep in tune with the whole low-bandwidth theme. I will look into a suitable small sized logo.

Heh, that's my friend from Star Wars Galaxies. You can see how I've abused my powers to give him his own special Group. bwhaha A random screenshot of our endeavors, this one being in Theed, Naboo (Padme's hometown) hunting Rebels in some PVP action - only to find them hiding under a bridge that we can't attack them under: [attachmentid=436] [taken with a 6600GT, but I have a X850XT now]
  13. Doh! Please check out the whole forums - much to learn.
  14. We had to revert to a backup of the forum from yesterday evening. Read more about it here: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showt...indpost&p=63594 Furthermore, we've learned more about the MZ-M100 and also another, MZ-M10. Read about those, and discuss, here: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=11172
  15. Is this a sign that a union between Sony and Apple are coming closer moreso than ever before? I present to you the MZ-M100; the "M" nomenclature being the latest addition to the family of confusing named MD units, presumeably designating Mac compatibility. [attachmentid=433] [click here for Sony site with more information] It looks exactly like a the MZ-RH10 (and no other specifications will be different aside from what is mentioned below), except it features a different title at the bottom of the unit with an additional "Linear PCM". Why is Linear PCM mentioned so boldly? It's the only type of format that can be uploaded to Mac. So that means no ATRAC3plus can be uploaded to Mac. Included with the unit will be a special *.wav converting software especially for Apple computers, and will also include a ECM-DS70P microphone - one of Sony's most popular of all time. MDR-E931 earphones will also be a part of the package. Sony will sell this unit for about $399 with e-tailers likely to carry it for $300 - $350. Worldwide availability and differing colors are not immediately known. There has been no announcement of Apple compatible software for transferring music to the device. There is no word as to if pre-existing Hi-MD units will be compatible with Apple computers and the new *.wav converting software. This unit will work with PC's just like a MZ-RH10. -------- A lesser unit will also be released with the same accessories and specifications of it's clone, this being directly similar to the MZ-RH910, dubbed MZ-M10: [attachmentid=434] [click here for Sony site with more information] Sony is selling this for $329, but expect it to hit $275.
  16. Welcome to the forum. If you record via the Mic In, then Sonicstage will upload. If you record via the Digital In, then you will need to employ Marcnet's Hi-MD Renderer for conversion.
  17. This is great - the production value is excellent and the quips are even better. I really needed this laugh today, thank you! Everyone should check this out, you won't regret it.
  18. My Father was born in Ireland, raised there and spent a lucrative time in the IRA before immigrating to the USA; he then joined the Army and was a Ranger amongst other things. He moved on to some government work that I can't really talk about, with some cop work in Florida/Georgia during the 60's/70's on the side. My Mother, born in Iwaki, Japan also immigrated with her family many moons ago to Florida. During the 60's my Mother and Father met as my Mum was doing dispatch work for the local police department. "At first sight" as they put it. I was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1984. Lived there for only a year or two before living in Skerries, Ireland for more than half a decade. Nasty divorce ensued and my Mother took me back to Florida and then eventually to a fast-growing southern belle town named Roswell, Georgia. Lived there for about a decade and after graduating high school, I moved out on my own to Maryland. Nice thread, by the by.
  19. Definitely not. I spoke to him on MSN this morning and it was indeed him. Even his website has been deleted.
  20. I had to restore the forum to July 13th (yesterday) @ 11pm because dex Otaku apparently lost it and deleted more than 200 topics and posts. I'm thankful that I now have a daily backup rotation scheme in place. I apologize for this loss in topics and registrations from 11pm until now, and I'm just as surprised and confused as everyone else at this recent change in behavior. Just to make sure you understand, I had to forfeit everything from 11pm until now in favor of the topics he deleted; it was not an easy decision but I had to make this choice. Unfortunately, because of his actions, he will never be allowed here again. It's truly a disappointing loss to the forums.
  21. So..what is everyone's favorite? I'd have to go with either ColdPlay's rendition of Bittersweet Symphony, Bjork's All is Full of Love, or any of the Pink Floyd.

  23. MagicGate is a large mountain to climb as there is no definition to it's zenith. If you patent searched you'll see how many things are in queue, especially with video technology. Best of luck to this project, and if there is anything I can do to assist I shall but like most others I'm completely moronic towards such endeavors.
  24. I think that there is something that transcends equipment and is more real than our incessant babble of units and accessories - it is of your actual ability to record. Practice, practice, practice. If you become truly adept with the N707 and then you are dissatisfied with your recordings, based on the standpoint that things do not sound acceptable to you, then consider an upgrade. Not only will you learn more from this experience with your current unit, but when it is time for Hi-MD then you will be truly ready. I would recommend that you record as much as possible in various situations, upload samples to the gallery and ask for opinions, and make topics about your experiences and discuss what you had problems with or what could've been different. This will help you evolve maturely and in the most proper manner.
