you could look into the entry-level netMD units; since you're only looking for a unit that would stay at a desktop, netMD-only recorders such as the aiwa AM-NX9, sony MZ-N420D, MZ-NF520 work fine for your situation. they're just around $100-$120USD now i believe. fairly cheap in price but quite useful since you already have a player.

not long enough. hard to balance time @ MDCF and T-board.

ya dont worry, nismo, zombie, et al will keep the board under control. have a safe trip! -
i'd assume it's the successor to the E3cs, so it should have better highs; just like the improvement from the EX70 to EX71
-
^and support here is FREE!!
-
well, first, let's start with a fixed budget and go from there.

Why two forums: T-board and minidisc.org?

^plus the eggos. awesome avatar if you ask me, ishiyoshi. as for your comment regarding MDCF converts, kurisu, i havent totally left tboard (yet); i just think this is the place to fuel my MD hunger; i'm not getting much (if not, any) out of tboard the way i used to. -
EX71, D66SL, D22SL, E888SP to name a few.
-
but you must admit they are mighty portable compared to lugging eggos around... i miss my EX71s.

just in case not everything is clear, here is a small list of all the 2004 hi-md models (except NH3D, cuz it's pretty much a NH1 w/o the inputs) *all units can use previous remotes (11EL, 12ELK, 33EL/35ELK) -- see Sefu's thread (on t-board): MZ-NH600 and NetMD remotes tested regarding remote compatability on the NH600(D) *all units can record and playback first gen MD blanks (60/74/80) *MDLP *included w/ all units: Sonicstage2 and Simpleburner2 software. AC adaptor, USB cable, stock headphones (MDR-E838SP supplied with NH1), manual, 1 (one) Hi-MD blank *features on main unit: all units (except NH1) have a 3-line non-backlit LCD. unsure if 3-line LCD can read Kanji, G-protection, DC input ~NH1 features a 3-line backlit LCD remote and has a single line (non-backlit) LCD on the main unit MZ-NH600D: a entry level Hi-MD recorder. no inputs (line, mic) only headphone/remote port, can only record from PC (via SS2) uses AA (NOTE: the UK (Euro?) version of the NH600 has indeed a remote port, line-input, 6-band EQ, but isnt supplied with an AC adaptor, remote or a Hi-MD blank) NH700: budget Hi-MD recorder. all inputs are present. includes remote port. stick-style remote (no LCD). uses AA. 6-band EQ (NOTE: the Japanese version is supplied w/ the RM-MC40ELK remote and not the stick remote) NHF800: mid-level Hi-MD recorder. all inputs are present. includes non-backlit LCD Tuner (AM/FM/TV/weather) Remote (RM-MC39LT). uses AA. VPT acoustic engine, 6-band EQ NH900: mid/high-end Hi-MD recorder. all inputs are present. line-out. includes backlit LCD remote (RM-MC38EL). HD Digital Amp. No Date/Time Stamp. AA pack. VPT acoustic engine, 6-band EQ. charging cradle. uses Ni-MH gumstick (NOTE: the Japanese version is supplied w/ the RM-MC40ELK remote and not the RM-MC38EL remote) NH1: high-end Hi-MD recorder. all inputs are present. line-out. magnesium body. includes backlit 3-line LCD remote (RM-MC40ELK) with Kanji text support. HD digital Amp. Date/Time Stamp. removable Li-Ion battery. VPT acoustic engine, 6-band EQ, charging cradle to get the bast battery life out of your Hi-MD unit, take a look at Moltar's battery thread: A listing of the best batteries to use for your Hi-MD unit. *some of the information may be outdated so if there is any other information needed for each unit, let me know. cheers!

there was never a backlit tuner remote to begin with. sony releases inaccurate press photos. as for the weatherband, i believe it's available for US customers (along with TV tuner); my experience with the weatherband function is that it never works. just for future references, sony tuner remotes never have a backlight.

here are some suggestions: http://www.minidisc-canada.com/shopexd.asp?id=160 (67CDN) http://www.minidisc-canada.com/shopexd.asp?id=174 (83CDN) from www.minidisc-canada.com.

i'm only familiar to SS1.5, and it's was pure garbage; it forever screwed up my computer. i'm never going back to netMD because of it. i cant say the same for the recent version of SS right now, cuz i dont have a proper USB cable for my NF610, but i just cant depend on SS anymore. i guess i'm just ignorant about it.
-
you mean the grey paper thing? the mod i'm familiar with is (along with the tape covering the 3 holes) to remove the grey paper-film...

hey, it's the clip-ons again!! hehe. i think these (or any set of clip-ons) work great for exercising; i'm sure it has decent sound and as you mentioned, damage, it's better than your typical stock 'phones.
-
i've owned them for a short amount of time. the sound is decent; nothing special. in my opinion, the bass is a bit overpowering; i guess it might have to get used to. there are better 'phones out there, depending on how much you intend to spend. how much is your headphone budget?
-
i vertically clip my remote to my backpack; with my D66 (w/o cord extention) plugged in.

dont worry, zerodB i've got no beef with you. as nismo said, you're cool! i think that shade of yellow is screwing up my vision; especially when driving... -
what's that all about? what other features do you get? thanks.
-
seeing that my album collection is rapidly growing, i'd like to see what your favourite albums you have in your collection. how about we make it a top 5 (needs not to be in any order) to simplify peoples list; if you want to add a 6th or 7th, by all means. i'll start: *pearl jam "ten" *bjork "vespertine" *dido "no angel" *the strokes "is this it?" *diana krall "live in paris" i have roughly 60 albums or so, so some were quite obvious to me. discuss. cheers!

^oh it has, it has. the balance of t-board rests upon 2 active mods that are there nearly everyday. the rest of the moderating team usually pops in roughly either 2-3 times a week to nearly once/month. honestly, [the moderating team] clearly needs a drastic change. then again, that's up to kohn to decide that. dont be surprised that t-board could turn into 'minidiscussion II'.
