  1. the two line display only works with N910 and N10... ANd you can only get the two line display in japanese models. Euro and American models dont have two line display which sucks!!!
  2. 1. You press DISPLAY on the remote for 2 seconds and the menu comes up... 2. It is stored under PACKAGES in the default directory (C:Program FilesSonyPackages) 3. You press and hold the SOUND button while SURROUND SOUND or SOUND EQUALISER settings are activated. And you can choose with the FORWARD or REWIND buttons... When you choose one, you have to press PLAY... and voila btw next time please take a look at the manual...
  3. You know posting in three different forums wont necessarilly give you all the answeres you need... You are just wasting space and cluttering the board. You can post in one forum and since most of us check all the messages on each forum you would get your question answered one way or another. Have a good day!!! :x
  4. Have you tried another disc to see if its recording properly? If not then the program might be confused. IT does that every now and then. You should repair the software and see if that help... If it doesnt then maybe it might just related to that particular disc. Also you can try re-installing the drivers...

    ACIDPro software

Yes true! There is only one way transfers allowed officially with the NetMD... No downloading (to the computer) but only uploading (from the computer)... keep that in mind ppl

    mp3 to actrac

Will not be as good? you are increasing the bitrate from 128 to 1441kbits.. yea ok just increasing the bitrate is not enough. After all the original file is an MP3. But it will be at least as good as 128kbits or maybe just a tad better...

    ACIDPro software

Does it have a licence from sony? If it does then why not... though i doubt it. Isnt that just an editing software???

    mp3 to actrac

No need at all... Winamp displays the sample rate when the music is being played

    MD>>PC

Yes you can copy music to your friends computer. The simplest way is analog recording. Just connect your MD from the LINE OUT to the LINE IN of your friends soundcard... And then record the music in realtime by playing it... Coming to your second question, there is no way you can backup music without check-out limitations. When you burn them on the CD and format the hard-drive you wont be able to import the music to sonicstage hence, you wont be able to listen to it. There should be an ATRAC plug-in for winamp though but i am not so sure. If there is one then you can burn the music files in ATRAC LP4 format on the hard drive and then burn them files on a CD... Then with the plug-in you can play them through winamp. I have read it somewhere but I havent seen the plug-in... sowwy about that one

    mp3 to actrac

Of course bitrates do matter. As long as they are 128kbits and rated at 44.1 Khz you would be able to convert them to ATRAC files. SonicStage does it automatically. However, as Majestic said, converting a WAV file rather than a MP3 file would yield better quality. Why? Because a WAV file is 1441kbits and an ordinary MP3 file is 128kbits or maybe 192kbits. Obviously the WAV file would give better quality as it has the higher bitrate. With the MP3 you are converting an already compressed file so the quality will not be as good as the ATRAC3 coded WAV file... Basically its like a clone of a clone Cheers BerkY
  12. True but you would need a line in jack for that. There is no such jack on the NE410. You would have to some serious modding and soldering for that. I reckon its not worth the effort. Plus i dont think anyone will be successful at it. That is unless your an electronics engineer...
  13. Well the americans pay a premium for driving a cadillac Thats the funny thing... ie. they get ripped off
  14. Well if the discs play properly on other units then it has to be a reading problem. Maybe something wrong with the ATRAC chip. The decoding part is where the problem looks like. It must be encoded properly since it plays fine on other units as you say. You should get it checked out.
  15. Hacking... it could be tried when your bored i guess Or when you have bought a new minidisc and want to fiddle with the old one. I wont do it to my beloved N910 though. Its just too cute (as you can see I have formed a relationship with my recorder - call me insane ). Anyway as Majestic said the unit should be fixable as long as there is nothing wrong hardware wise. Dont be so sure about it though. Getting the unit fixed could cost $$$ (and thats triple digits for ya) if "unfixing" by hacking it properly doesnt work. Sony charges a fortune for out of warranty hardware... The thread should get you started. Good luck and post more Q's when you need to Cheers BerkY
