  1. Short answer... No. There is currently no way to recover accidentally deleted/formatted Hi-MD material. You may wish to hold onto the disc just in case something comes up in the future though.
  2. As far as I'm aware the R900 doesn't have a USB connector or anything, so your recordings will need to be realtime via the line/optical or mic-in.
  3. There are probably two switches that need to be bypassed to do this. The one as you mentioned cuts the power when the eject button is engaged, the other would tell the unit that the lid is open. I was able to modify my MZ-R700 to bypass these switches, however the switch that cuts the power when eject is pressed had to be physically broken off. The switch that tells the unit it is open was able to be taped down. Look in the downloads section here in the forums to see if the service manual for the R37 is there and see if you can figure it out. PM me if you want any help, where are you located anyway?
  4. SP via SonicStage is only LP2 quality anyway... Just dressed up to look like SP so it will play on older units. In other words SP via SonicStage is 132kbps, not 292kbps.
  5. Try not to do anything with the disc(s) for the time being. Search the forums for "TOC Cloning" and feel free to PM me if you want some help... EDIT: It does sound like a TOC issue, so the audio data is most likely there and able to be retrieved. Where are you located?
  6. Thanks everyone! I'll be enjoying unseasonably warm weather this year for my birthday..

  8. I'm actually trying to work out what situations this would work for... As soon as I can find one I will test it out. Worst-case scenario I will have to wait until my RH1 confronts me with a "Cannot Rec or Play" error.
  9. I'll give this a test run as soon as I can and post the results along with a rundown of other methods of recovering material (TOC Cloning). Would be nice to have all of the info in one spot.
  10. Well, I did a bit of testing and this method in fact only works with NetMD. I tried Hi-MD formats and simply got the "Track From PC No Edit" message. Good to know that there is still some usefulness to the old Nero ImageDrive/SimpleBurner method. Only downside is that you have to transcode to LP2/LP4.
  11. Interesting, I'll experiment with this and let you guys know. Would be great if this works!
  12. Unfortunately I believe the only way to be able to add track marks would be if you record in realtime via line/optical input... Frustrating, but material downloaded to (Hi)MD from PC cannot be edited/trackmarked. Silly really, and if Sony wants to focus more on the recording aspect of MD this will need to definitely be fixed.
  13. So anyone up for a proper translation? I am pretty anxious to test this out (and I really don't want to watch this slip through the cracks either), so if anyone could translate this it would be greatly appreciated!
  14. There may be converted/optimized versions of files in: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\SonicStage\Packages\Optimized Files These usually can be safely deleted if you do not need them.
  15. Tried a quick translation via AltaVista's Babelfish.. Looks promising! Can't wait for a more accurate translation so I can try this out! Thanks enaef!
  16. Not sure if this would work or not, but may be worth trying: - Install SimpleBurner from the downloads section here in the forums. - Create an audio CD image with Nero using the mp3s (it can be longer than a regular CD if I recall correctly) and mount it with Nero ImageDrive. - Open your ImageDrive path in SimpleBurner and transfer to MD. Let me know if this works or not. The only setback would be that you would have no track titles transferred.
  17. I have one of these myself ( broke the remote though ) wonderful legacy portable player!
  18. Hi there, The only Hi-MD unit that will transfer legacy minidiscs to PC via SonicStage is the MZ-RH1. If you have a unit other than the MZ-RH1 you will have to record via analog in realtime. What Hi-MD unit are you using?
  19. I think its useful for when you have the unit in rec-pause and are waiting for something to start, that way you dont miss the beginning of it. I would think it would be particularly useful for folks that reord off the radio or even for live recording of concerts and such. Or in my case I would have 30 seconds to realize that I forgot to take the unit out of rec-pause.
  20. Personally I would like to see 30 seconds of "time-machine recording" in a portable. That would be a dream come true (and not terribly difficult actually). For those not familiar, time-machine recording is a feature that (while in rec-pause) keeps however many seconds of sound in a memory buffer, and is constantly filling this. So when you un-pause and start recording, the recording actually starts with the 30 seconds (or however long the time-machine recording buffer is) of audio from before you started. I have had two pro decks with this feature and it would be a phenomenal thing to have in a portable.
  21. You can transfer WAV/PCM to Hi-MD just fine. You have to use either SonicStage or SimpleBurner though (can't just drag & drop a WAV file from explorer). To do so, be sure to set the transfer setting to "As Is" in SonicStage or "PCM" in SimpleBurner.
  22. See discussion here: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=17734
  23. A few of us here in the forums have used eyeglass repair kits to fix missing screws (on my N707 personally, but I would assume they are probably similarly sized on the NH600).
  24. Haha, yep the external battery back hides the USB connector You can also slide the little cover there over the USB to access the jack for the power plug.
