Sorry I didn't think to compare the battery life... Go for the RH10 you won't be disappointed, the display is superb!
-
Yep that was me that suggested the TOC cloning (if it was standard MD). To my knowledge noone has yet attempted TOC cloning with a Hi-MD unit... Or at least it hasn't been mentioned here in the forums. I will be receiving the new RH1 sometime this week, so I may actually attempt to modify my NH900 to see if I can manage TOC cloning with Hi-MD. If I have any luck I will let you know, since I may be able to help you retreive the audio data.

Check your email... What type of unit were you recording with? MD or Hi-MD?
-
Yep, as long as they weren't transferred onto the disc by another computer using SonicStage/OpenMG Jukebox/etc.
-
I'm not sure I follow you on this... What do you mean "when installing SS" in regards to turning off DRM? I don't think I noticed that as an option when I installed SonicStage 4... I guess this option doesn't affect tracks uploaded from Hi-MD?
-
The units are identical in features with one exception: The RH10 has an Organic EL Display, while the RH910 has the standard LCD. Both have Mic-in and Line/Optical-in; and can upload/download from PC. RH10 Specs: http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-M100+RH10.html RH910 Specs: http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-M10+RH910.html

Might be $2, but check the shipping costs. It Probably evens up.
-
Yep I got in on it when it was still $299 (comes with free soundprofessionals mic too, don't think MiniDisco's comes with a free mic). And evidentally SoundProfessionals got their first shipmet of RH1's and they are black not silver! (They had told me that they would be silver when I inquired about it earlier in the week).

How to use SonicStage to back up your recordings
raintheory replied to greenmachine's topic in Software
Thanks GreenMachine, now I can just refer people to this thread rather than trying to explain the whole process over and over. This should be pinned/stickied... -
That's basically what I've been trying to say too
-
Typical SONY move there... Can anyone else test this out and replicate the problem?
-
Where did you order yours from again?
-
Anyone have any idea where I could get ahold of the font used in this? Or a similar one?

Enjoy your new RH1 Mine should be shipping next week sometime. I got stuck with a silver one though.
-
Yep, sure does. Try it out. Convert a track to the same bitrate and compare how quickly it does this versus how long it takes to convert to a different bitrate... It just makes a copy of the track without the DRM if you use the same bitrate. EDIT: BTW, it puts the DRM-stripped tracks in "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\SonicStage\Packages\Optimized Files". I have just put a shortcut to this folder on my desktop so after uploading/un-DRMing files I can just go in there and back them up to a sepearate folder immediately. You can also use the ATRAC plugin for Winamp (available in downloads section here) to play the files just fine on any computer after the DRM has been stripped.

You'll notice if you attempt to defrag that for one thing the read/write heads in the unit start going crazy. A pretty good way to reduce the life-span of your unit if you ask me.
-
You beat me to it... This is the technique I use to back up the recordings I have uploaded.
-
Been using a 500gb external firewire drive for music storage myself.
-
If that is the case wouldn't you then be able to upload true SP from legacy discs with the RH1? Instead of having to convert it to WAV or Hi-SP?
-
Listening to an instrumental song I recorded yesterday... http://www.cosmicsky.com/audio/sedum_morganianum.mp3 (128kbps mp3, 4.78mb) volta, you will probably enjoy this one...
-
The 180mb MiniDiscs are the normal MiniDiscs, which should be compatible with all units (except maybe some multi-track recorders which require MD-DATA). Actually they hold more when used with a Hi-MD recorder. The 1GB Hi-MD discs will only work on a Hi-MD recorder.

Sony DATA MD pc drive: how to make it external?
raintheory replied to celticflute's topic in Minidisc
What type of connector is it? IDE? -
Well a freshly formatted disc, after filling it up with songs from sonicstage looks like this: [attachmentid=1793] So I doubt there would be any increase in performance considering... Honestly I think defragmenting would result in unnecessary wear and tear on your unit.
