  1. Nice. Their site shows the black one, but I'm wondering if it will actually be silver. From what I understand so far, the US models are RH1 (silver) & M200 (black). Identical except for price and the bundled mic for the M200.
  2. You have the option of adding copy protection to the tracks when you import a CD. If you don't add copy protection I would think you could just copy the OMA files without the backup tool. Alternately, if there is copy protection it can be removed fairly easily by simply selecting the tracks, right-clicking and choosing "convert format", and then simply choose the same bitrate that the files already are and leave the "add copy protection" box un-checked. This doesn't transcode the files and removes copy protection (using this method the un-DRMed files are copied to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\SonicStage\Packages\Optimized Files). This is the method I use to backup my own recordings.
  3. Another SoundProfessionals Update: They have responded and confirmed to me that the RH1 and M200 differ in color (RH1 being Silver, M200 being black). Also they stated that they just received word that the RH1's are coming in next week! It's a shame that the price for the RH1 through Soundprofessionals just went up $50 yesterday (from $299 to $349), the M200 should be in about a month after the RH1 and is going for $399, comes with a sony mic. Rumz (aka "superficial") will be pleased that he will not have to spend an additional $100 dollars for a black unit! Only about $50... though he has to wait another month. Better get on it though before they raise prices again!
  4. Okay superficial. I have dealt with SoundProfessionals myself quite a few times, definitely good people.
  5. You'll definitely want the newest version. Here are the links: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=9586
  6. I agree with that, I'm just not sure that the Sony Mic and color black would be worth $100 more than a silver one with a SoundProfessionals mic. To me anyway.
  7. Yes the battery types mentioned on the SoundProfessionals site is definitely wrong.
  8. Heres their page on it: http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/...tem/SONY-MZ-RH1 Doesn't really look chrome thankfully.
  9. I'm with Volta, for the most part. As a side-note though, as far as new affordable recorders being introduced, they would also have to be as reliable as a technology that is now more than 10 years running. That's alot of time, and personally I'm not sure I'd be willing to make a jump to a new technology until I know that they have been around long enough to know what they are doing, espescially with the way most portable (and non-portable) electronics are being built these days. My MZ-1 still functions perfectly, after over 12 years! I can't say the same for many, way too many products that have been introduced in the past 5 years or so.... Though I will say out of all of my gadgets, almost all of my MD recorders have held up well and outlived plenty of other things.
  10. Heads-up for SoundProfessionals Pre-Orders... They have the M200 (black model with sony mic) listed on their site now, 1st shipment expected in July ($399). The RH1 (silver model with free soundprofessionals mic) is listed for shipment in June and is $100 less than the M200 ($299). I think I'll be fine with the silver model myself.

  12. According to SoundProfessionals, they will be getting the black units as well as silver. However, they wont be getting the black ones until about a month after the silver. They stated June or July for the silver ones as of yesterday.
  13. Yes, Stuge is correct. Also, for the standard installation you need an internet connection. So anyone with dial-up or no connection at all is pretty much screwed. The full installer lets you install on a computer without the need for an internet connection (via USB drive, etc).
  14. No drag and drop capabilities for any of the units at this time. You will need to use Sony's SonicStage software to upload the files (which can then be saved as .WAV files). You can do various editing procedures on the unit itself though. Such as titling, track-marking, etc.
  15. The RH10 is actually a 2nd gen Hi-MD model, with the new RH1 being the first 3rd gen. So I guess the M100 would actually be gen 2.5.
  16. Try transferring one track, and while that is converting/transferring, select the rest and send them over. I think I remember seeing this as a workaround here before, might be worth a shot! Also, you may want to try installing the newest version of SonicStage (version 4) which may resolve the issue. Download links for SonicStage CP (version 4): http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=9586
  17. The 4-Track recorders use MD-DATA discs to get 4 tracks. Do a search for MD-DATA and see what different sites have them. Just a heads-up though, they aren't cheap!
  18. FYI... Response from SoundProfessionals regarding the RH1: So looks like they will be getting silver and black models, just they are getting the silver models first. Depending on when they are available I may end up going for the silver because I can't stand waiting anymore! Plus I really need the Legacy uploading ASAP for a couple projects I am working on./
  19. I think there is a wall charger thing that connects to a USB for charging that comes with it. I could be wrong but for some reason I remember seeing this somewhere..
  20. Something like this should do the trick:
  21. Mac compatibility and the M100 comes with a microphone I believe. Only differences that I am aware of. Maybe also the firmware bug of some of the first RH10's (including mine) where you can't see some of the letters when titling on the unit. The bug was fixed before the M100 so I would assume that it won't be an issue.
  22. C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\SonicStage\Packages & C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\SonicStage\Content are the full directories for the screen shown in the image. The location for temporary files should be the default location, i.e. C:\Documents and Settings\"User"\Local Settings\Temp, however that can be changed from the options as well
  23. Welcome,. First of all you may want to get the latest version of SonicStage (version 4) if you don't already have it installed. Then, go to Tools/Options, and its under "Location to save imported files".
  24. Look around in and near C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\SonicStage\Packages and see if the tracks are anywhere in or around there... Failing that the only other thing I could recommend would be a full uninstall/reinstall of SonicStage. Although if you are able to upload other recordings (from other discs) then it may be an issue with the disc itself... Do you have any problems playing the track or just in uploading? EDIT: Just for kicks you could try renaming the track and see if it will upload after that. lol, never know.
