I imported some audio that i recorded on my computer into SS2.2. I decided that i want that material on VD, so I went to the Create Audio CD option. I selected the tracks I wanted to burn to the CD and clicked the arrow to put them on the CD. when all the tracks were on there, I clicked the red record button. I then click "Start Writing". It then tells me "Unable to transfer the track or tracks." What am I doing wrong?

THat is a REALLY great point. I have been thinking that as well. However, the prices for flash media of sizes needed to hold large amounts of data is almost as exspensive as Hi-MD players. Until Flash Media can hold 10GB and you can buy it for $10, i dont see a solid state media player market anytime soon.

You know, I never really thought of that before. That would be a real slick idea. I checked out Alpine's IPod adaptor and I liked that. Might not be a bad idea for Sony to go that route.

where can i find a version of 2.0 to download and install? My 2.1 never works. i want to go back.

The same thing happened to me. I finally got fed up and called Sony's customer support. THey told me that they are getting a LOT of calls on that EXACT same problem and as of right now, they are unsure how to fix it. THey told me that they THINK it is a problem with the version you have to download. The woman I talked to told me that there will be a CD version available in a few weeks and that mght solve the problem.

I talked with a Tech Support person earlier today, she told me that SonicStage 2.1 will be available on CD within a few weeks

I am on the phone with Tech Support as we speak. As of right now, they have no idea what the problem is. Edit: Ok, she talked to some of the people around her and they said they have been getting a lot of phone calls with this issue. They are not sure what the problem is. However, they did think it might be a problem with having to download it off the web. So, she said in a week or 2 they will be offering 2.1 on CD and they think that might solve the problem. So, it looks like all of us who are having problems are going to have to wait a few weeks.

Part of this that really sucks is that I took a lot of stuff that I had in MP3 and encoded it to the OMG format then deleted the MP3. I figured I wouldnt need them again. So, if i dont get this fixed I will never be able to recover those files

I wrote Sony with my problem and explained that it will not install OpenMG. This was their ever "helpful" responce...... That's it! That is all! That is the WORST tech support I have ever seen.
-
I did all that and I am running Windows XP Home
-
I go to install OpenMG manually and it tells me "1607: Unable to install InstalShield Scripting RunTime"
-
I'll try that when I get home tonight. THe fact that I have to go through all those steps just to make a simple upgrade, is absolutely rediculous. I am not reinstalling WOndos here! It;s just going from SS2.0 to SS2.1. How dumb.

I just submited a question to Sony Connect about the problem. This is what i sent....
-
Ok, here is the deal. It looks like the installer is installing everything EXCEPT "OpenMG Secure Module 4.0". After the instaler finishes, it reboots my computer. I try to start SS2.1 and it says OpenMG is not installed. So, I run the installer again and it just skips over the OpenMG instalation. That seems to be the crux of the problem.

I followed it to a T. Plus: If Sony could figureout how to write a proper upgrade program, we would have to go through 20 steps just to instal a .1 upgrade. 90% of all users would give up and return the product. THat is really bad business. I did follow everything if said, but I also shouldnt have to.
