  1. the plug shape is the same. there is a lot of information I need from the US charger. Anyone who owns this unit, I would appreciate a photo
  2. okay, so I was trying to save money. My regular Sony charger becomes defective a no. of years ago. I should have buy a new one. But instead I use the other charger from my NH1. I bought my NH1 directly from Japan, this is the gold plate version, so the charger is meant for Japan voltage system, a Sony AC-ES60BK, w/ input AC100V, 50/60Hz 12 VA, output DC 6V, 800mA the original charger, was 115V. Since then, I notice this charger only takes 15 to 20 min. to charge a near empty battery, and likewise, the battery may be dropping juice somewhat faster. I am also certain the original charger takes much longer than 15 to 20 min. to recharge the battery Moreover, for those who own the North American version of your NH1, could you please post a photo of the front plate of your charger, there is some specification that I need
  3. thanks. I just assume the USB can be connected to a DAC. Oh well...
  4. someone just told me the mz-n1 head phone out, can be inserted by a mini toslink, and it HAS optical out. He said he's sure there is a red beam shining out from that hole. However, even if it's true, it's no good to me, as N1 is not Hi MD
  5. I solved the problem. It's not the best solution, but it's the best I can do. I connect 1 RCA jack cable to the remote, and connects the other end to the input of my Sony portable DAC. It's not a digital signal out, but until there is such a thing as optical out for MD portable, there is nothing further I can do to make sure of this DAC
  6. I have an Emotiva XDA1 that has a USB Type b female. Has anyone connects a NH1 to it? I thought we can use the black cable that c/w the NH1, connects to this: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=6561 and from the above, connects to this: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=5438 and from the above, connects to the back side of the USB port of my DAC. can this be done? If so, can you play your HiMD and you think the DAC can see the signal, process it, and send it to the speaker?
  7. when you said NW-S75x, are you talking about these: https://www44.atwiki.jp/sonynw/pages/40.html If we get an external converter that the source is optical, and the output is digital co-ax, don't we lost all the original quality of digital co-ax? meaning we are not getting the sound quality of digital co-ax because the source is optical?
  8. I did see Onkyo seems to have a desk model that support HiMD and has optical output. Personally, I prefer Co Ax output. I did see Tascam TEAC has an optical output on their deck, but they don't play HiMD, just MD see, I bought a Sony portable DAC, and I connect my portable CD player to it as I do my workout. The sound is great. So by listening to just the mini disc player to headphone, the sound is noticeably not as good. So I can't get all these files to my PC, as I mostly listen to these at the gym. As to the home use, I don't know how to play all these files eventhough if I copied them to the PC, at my DAC / speaker set
  9. I am looking for portable HiMD player of any brand that has an Optical output. Is there such a thing? If not, is there a way to use the head phone out as co-ax output by chance? Likewise, I am also looking for desk model of HiMD player / recorder that has Optical output or Diigtal co-ax output. Is there any brand name that makes that?
  10. why are you selling all your mini disc gear? what are you moving to?
  11. actually it doesn't has to be sony. But does any co. still make high quality CD portable player? I would imagine the technology w/ a new CD player today is way better than those old CD portable player. But do they exist?
  12. read this post regarding that very same battery
  13. here's a final update, it's somewhat off topic: I just try the Ext. AA battery pack, this Sony battery pack should work for most MD or CD player. As I use it, the battery indicator was at 1 dot, then move back up to 3 dot, and it moves back and forth. So the sensor of my battery strength changes. Any1 has any idea why?
  14. In that case, as to my MD player / recorder, I make the right choice by buying a made in japan unit. But my CD player, is made in malaysia, so I don't know if that's a good choice, but there is no player made in japan
  15. Here's an update: I am not go to waste time to try yet another brand name of NiMH battery. The original discman that I own c/w a AA battery casing that allows 1 x AA battery. I'm going to buy 4 x AA rechargable for $17, and I already have a charger long ago. The Energizer brand guarantee hold charges at 2300mAH for at least 1 year if you don't use it. So my total cost is $17 and if there is any problem, I send back to energizer.
  16. that's $32. I think I'm going in circle. I used to have those sony original battery, and they don't last all that long. Then I switch to those cheap battery. Just yesterday, I charge 1 of those battery that I haven't use for about 6 mth., it charges for 2 hr. or so, but when I press play, the battery is dead. So for me to use my CD player again, I need some new battery On an unrelated matter, I was at sony store yesterday, there is a $750 MP3 player coming out, if I buy it, then I don't need to look for battery
  17. that's great. Now all I need is to find a good, natural wood, foldable head phone
  18. I am thinking of get a new headphone, natural wood construction. My current headphone is 24 ohm, a Sony MDR-V900. I have also use the Sony MDR-V600, which is 45 ohm, on the same portable CD player. In either case, I can't tell a difference in sound quality. But people did tell me that the lower the impedance, the better it is for the battery to push good CD sound quality. The current headphone I have in mind is 64 ohm. Would a regular portable CD player or Hi MD player be able to push good Cd quality sound on a head phone of 64 ohm ?
  19. Does anyone else has hissing sound on your RM-MC40ELK or your RM-MC32EL. As I'm getting that hissing sound on both remote. I had an old portable Sony audio remote, and when I connect my Sony MDR-V900 headphone, there is hisssssssing sound. So a few mth. ago, I ordered a brand new Sony audio remote (the remote is for my HiMD player). When it arrives, the hisssing sound is gone. Then just recently, that hisssing sound comes back. As the audio jack of my headphone contacts to the portable audio remote, I have to rotate the audio jack slowly and eventually there is a certain spot that I can get sound coming out from both left / right headphone. Otherwise, it's either hisssing sound, or sound comes out from the left headphone only. Under magnifying glass, I can't see any damage or wear / tear on the audio jack. This Sony headphone is made in Japan, but 14 yr. old. Same problem w/ my RM-MC32EL. You think it's the headphone jack?
  20. Okay, I haven't got the time to work on this issue until now. I downloaded the driver from the above link. It installed just fine. So I get the same problem, when I load SS 4.3, it crashes at the beginning. Since the INF is clearly for Win 7, I decided not to run it under XP Compatible mode. I think I have the right SS 4.3 Ver. 2, the uncompress setup file size is SS43 ultimate, 37,695,757 bytes Regardless, this is the error in detail: Poblem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: Omgjbox.exe Application Version: Application Timestamp: 45c31a1c Fault Module Name: Items.dll Fault Module Version: Fault Module Timestamp: 45c3154d Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 000134b7 OS Version: 6.1.7601. 21. Why do I need the 64 bit NetMD driver? I have a NH1, and in the past, I simply install the software. The unit is USB, it shouldn't need any driver. So what's the NetMD driver for?
  22. I don't think I'm having an INF file issue. It just crash at the beginning. Anyhow, that mediafire link is gone, can someone post a link at places like keep2share.cc, which is far better than mediafire anyway. Is there a newer ver. of this software? I forgot where I download the 4.3 ver.
  23. I have been using this software under Windows 7 Pro, 32 bit Recently, I got a new PC and I install Win 7 Pro, 64 bit instead. I have no problem installing this software, but when I run it, it crash. I know it's an old software. Is there any1 using Win 7 Pro 64 bit, and manage to run this software w/o any problem? If so, did you set it at XP Compatibility mode or what trick did you use?
