  1. Sorry I haven't replied in a while. Sony lost my new SS2 CD when i sent my old CD to them so it took them a month to send me another new one. Not to my surprise I still get the same message. I have that MDAC update someone mentioned and I still get the error. Fernando, your saying to install the original OpenMG programs on the CD first, then install SS2 over that? The CD that came with my unit is an SS 2.0 CD, so what OpenMG programs are you talking about? When I put my SS2 CD into my drive, the only installation option I get is to install SS 2.0 and NetMD Simpler Burner 2.0.
  2. Fernando, were you getting the same message as me? I am getting a new copy in the mail soon so if that doesn't work I will try your method.
  3. Were you getting the same error as me? OpenMG software doesn't have the drivers for my MD only Sonic Stage does so I doubt that will work unless it somehow fixes the database problem.
  4. I followed the FAQ to uninstall SS properly and I installed 2.1 from connect.com. The same message pops up. It seems I need to update the database somehow. Ok I found something that might help. When I click the SS File Conversion Tool in 2.1 i get a message "cannot optimize the database because the database file version is not recent enough".
  5. I can't get the program to open in the first place. I keep getting the message mentioned above. I also have nothing to backup but I will uninstall everything and try 2.1.
  6. Ok I think I made a mistake. Net MD Simple Burner 2.0 is not working too. Im getting the message "recording failed, there was a problem reading the audio CD". Do I have a bad CD or what? At first I thought it was because I had mutiple music formats on the CD but then I tried all MP3's the same message pops up. Well I guess SS is messing up Simple Burner someway.
  7. Basically this is the problem: I click the Sonic Stage icon and message pops up saying "Updating Sonic Stage Database, Restart Sonic Stage When Finished". I click ok and another message pops up for half a second saying "converting Sonic Stage database". I click the SS icon again and the same thing happens again, over and over. I've talked to Sony tech support but they have no answer for me yet. I have a custom built PC (i know their policy) and im running Windows XP SP1. There were no previous MD software on this computer. The SS version that came with the CD is 2.0. I downloaded the update but still no luck and I tried 2.1 but got the same results. Forgot to mention that simple burner works fine. Somebody mentioned something about updating Jetcomp but I don't know what that is. Any help? I have a MZNF520D.
  8. Im having the same problem too. I deleted the reg keys and reinstalled and still no luck. I did not have any previous MD software on my computer either so its weird. I emailed Sony and they gave me a number to call. I'll try that and if they fix the problem i will post it. Im never buying an MD player again.
  9. Ive reinstalled it several times but get the same results. I am not upgrading from a previous version of SS and spyware is probably not the issue (I have AdAware and SpyBot).
  10. The version I have is 2.0. The CD I have says 2.0U. I checked the readme file and I don't need the patch on Sony's website (my version includes the fixes). Ive also tried to uninstall it and delete the sony registry keys so that when I reinstall, the CD will revert back to the default database folder. It did revert back but I had the same message pop up. I have no clue why its doing this. My Net MD Simple Burner is working perfectly though.
  11. I recently bought a MZNF520D. The problem i have is that Sonic Stage will not open. Each time I click on it a message pops up saying "updating sonic stage database, please restart after updating". I click "ok" and a window pops up for a brief second saying, "converting sonic stage database" then disappears. I click on the sonic stage icon again and the whole process starts all over. Im using Win XP Professional SP1 and I have no previous MD software on my computer.
