  1. If only Sony would agree with you. I've pretty much have given up all hope for MD. I think i might get me a rack mounted deck one of these days (maybe make a nice wooden cabinet for it) and then just do like the band on the Titanic. We are going the way of the Betamax... -G.
  2. We gotta thank that 23% of the pop. that still used MD because those are the guys keeping the technology alive for us in the rest of the planet where MD probably doesn't have a bigger share than 5%. G.
  3. I get what you mean but pre-recorded MDs were pressed too. Imagine if you could put your MDs (all generations, SP, LP and/or Hi), pre-recorded or done by you at home into your PSP. Unify the devices using that kind of media and reduce the number of conflicting formats. What if i put an old 1995 pre-recorded MD into my new kickass HiMD videocamera? Well, it should at least play the tunes. One format, be it HiMD or recordable UMDs for camcorders, audiodevices, digicams or gaming devices. That would even make it easier for them to develope a machine that groups some of those functions. Blur the lines and the target consumer groups that go with them. G.
  4. Well then, one more reason to have never launched UMD and use HiMD for all new devices, PSP included. G.
  5. The Devil's in the details as they say. There's a distinct lack of the proverbial synergy inside Sony. I've been saying this for a while now, but to give you one example, if Sony's divisions talked, either HiMD or UMD would have not been put out. One format would have been chose as the next step in the MD format. Make the units reverse compatible. Hell, if all the PSP units that are going to be sold as soon as the device comes out in the US and Europe used HiMDs, the format would have extended its life, maybe come back strong. As it is, HiMD will probably die real soon, taking with it the whoel MD format, while UMD will never really take off beyond being media for games. Right now, they are marketing prerecorded UMDs exactly the same way they did prerecorded music MDs. We all rememebr how well that went. And this is a company that has vaults upon vaults of content - music and movies. I am a faithful MD user, have been for more than 10 years now, but damn if Sony is always reacting too late to what happens in the electronics world instead of being proactive and trailblazing. G.
  6. I dunno what the hell is wrong with Sony's marketing department. I just noticed that they cold've made the new Play Station portable HiMd based. Or just not release HiMD and be able to record music on the new media discs that the PSP uses. And make the units freaking reverse compatible. There was no need for two formats, they could've pooled together the target markets for both products. This is the friggin' synergy all the marketing weasels yap about... and they let the opportunity pass. I am a loyal MD user, but i tell you at this pace in 3 years we will sleep with the fishes (and Betamaxes). G.
  7. I defeat that crap playing the CD on a bookshelf system with optical out.
  8. I've been looking all over the place for some sort of bandolier to carry my discs, players, cables and adapters across my chest, Chewbacca style. Closest thing i've found are green hunting ones made of canvas, military type (similar ones also come in black or camo) or even better, leather ones. Hope this helps. For me that is the best and most practical way to carry my music.
  9. Try lighter fluid (ronsonol) with a Q-tip. Maybe nail polish remover or DYE-O. Just be careful not to get any inside the casing. Also, some fluids might remove the sticky stuff but end up dulling the gloss of any clear (coloured or otherwise) plastics like jewel cases, mds et al.
