How to make your A800 sound like a S700 but with more bass and detail?
markey replied to veggiemusician's question in Audio
I can confirm that the A80X/A81X is the better sounding player -
Yes, I see now
-
Yep, you can pick up the new 3rd gen nano cheaper than the older 2nd gen nano here in the UK too.
-
Your S203F isn't going to stop working all because Sony is ditching ATRAC and Sonicstage. You will still be able to use ATRAC and SS which you were obviously happy with when you bought the player
-
Glad you like them They are supposed to block out a certain amount of ambiant noise, handy for train or plane journeys.
-
That's right, Sony has dropped ATRAC and SonicStage.
-
Kinda looks a bit on the feminine side. I think the wife would be happy with it Prefering the A series myself.
-
As long as Sony produces the Network Walkman there is no reason why this website should cease to exist.
-
These have been advertised on the SonyStyle USA site, so yes these are for you guys
-
Looking at the specs on the SonyStyle site it looks as if they have done away with the WM Port. It now states on the specs- "USB Port(s) 22 pin to high-speed USB 2.0 connector" No where does it mention "WM Port" on the specs for this new player.
-
Yes, both the NW-S7xx and NW-A8xx share the same cable (WM Port), Normal/mini USB and proprietory cables for NW-A3000/A1000 won't fit.

The EX52 I have seen for sale on Tottenham Court Road, London (independent retailer, not a Sony Centre) for approx £20. That's cheaper than the EX71, so I can't imagine it sounding that great.
-
If they did only bring out a 2gb model that wouldn't surprise me, as nothing surprises me with Sony. You are right, it only make sense to bring out 2, 4 & 8 gb models and maybe even a 16gb model.
-
That's just what I was thinking. Does this mean the end of Sonic Stage? Lets hope they can do better than 2gb though.

The HD5 is unique in that it is designed so that what ever way you are holding the player, wether it be sideways or upside down the display will be readable at the angle you have it when it is turned on. Hope that makes sense
-
Well, as long as they don't replace it with an inferior product like they did when they finished with the HD5, the NW-A3000/A1000
-
The A8xx seems to have had the same shelf life as the HD5, 4 months
-
It's just the price difference between the ones sold on the High Street and the ones on Amazon. I know that Sennheiser changed them cosmetically recently. Maybe the ones on Amazon are the older style.
-
Thanks for the link aob9 Amazon sell them for considerably lower than any high street retailer. Would you trust the ones off of Amazon as they are now approx £15 while in the high street they are approx £40?
-
Yes, I intend in getting a pair of CX300's. The EX71's are pretty dull as you say, but with the A8xx sound considerably better.
-
Sounds about right, what with all the price reductions. If your after an A8xx try Argos.
-
I know the MDR-EX71's are more lo-fi than hi-fi, but have been using them for the past week with the A806 and they sound surprisingly good. If anyone else has a pair of EX71's and an A8xx try it out and let us know what you think. I know the mids are lacking with these phones, but not as bad as they used to with other players. Not as muddy either.
