Oh well, every cloud has a silver lining. After a full refund of £119.99 I then went to Argos (a catologue shop) and purchased another A1000 for £109.99 making a saving of £10.00, and I even got the colour the wife originally wanted, (viollet). I can't see why he couldn't let me have the A1200 seeing as he was going to let me have a free case to go with it. This guy was practically begging me not to take my custom elsewhere. Oh well, his loss.

What's the sound quality like and do you get much interference?

I was first offered only a repair of the unit and was told this was all they could offer as the warranty had gone past the 28 days. I told him this was rubbish and if that was all he could offer could he get the manager. To be fair, as soon as I spoke to the manager and he saw that the unit didn't have a mark on it he offered to replace it with the A1200 or give a full refund. The only catch was that I had to pay the extra £39.00. I told him that he should be letting me have it without any extra money changing hands, he declined. He did however offer me a free case/cover for the A1200 if I wished to purchase it. Out of principal I took the refund. I will probably buy the A1200 elsewhere.

Hi bogon07, yes I have tried resetting the unit on numerous occasions. I shall be visiting the Sony shop today and I expect to be walking out with a brand new unit as it is only 6 weeks old.

My A1000 seems to have frozen the same way as beebob's has. It has frozen on the "enjoy your music, enjoy your life screen" and when I connected it to the pc and then disconnected it, it now says "Connecting" and even though not connected to any power source the battery indicator flashes as if on charge. The unit is also unusually warm. No doubt I have myself a dud unit?

Does the head unit have the capability to run a cd multichanger. It is possible to run a portable audio device through the wiring for an autochanger although you would have to know what you were doing. I just got a new car myself and fortunatley the stock head unit supplied has an aux input, it's just a matter of locating the loom and purchasing the connector.

Hi Kalfireth, Welcome to Atraclife. May I ask what in-car head unit you are using?
-
Yes indeed! I have started my nine year old son out on the wife's old NW-E405 as she has now upgraded to the A1000. Infact the Sony badge is present in many rooms around this house.

Thanks Ishiyoshi, sorry for not searching for this first.

Can I run these two on the same pc, not at the same time though? I would like to do this as my wife has an A1000 and I have a HD5 and would like to keep two seperate libraries.

and support mp3 file manager.

I thought not, thanks Stuge!
-
Is mp3 file manager available for the NW-A1000?
-

Great review bockers! Been waiting to hear peoples thoughts on these phones, I thought they would sound alot better than ex71's, and you have just confirmed this. I'll look forward to getting a pair of these.

never mind, i lost out to a higher bid on ebay on fiday for an n10. maybe it was yours.

Loking for MZ-N10 or MZ-N910 must be in full working order and in good condition.
-
Try using mp3 file manager. It can be downloaded from the Sony website. It will allow you to drag and drop mp3 music files onto your player.

Thanks Richyhu, much appreciated!

Cheers Richyhu, I shall consider these. I take it that that is an amp I see attached to the cord. Does it make much of a difference and does it weigh the cord down at all?
-
yeah I think your right there! You could probably get one cheaper at an electronics shop. You may as well add the extra cash and get yourself a far superior pair of buds.
-
Was looking at these, has anyone tried them?
-
Try your local Sony dealer, you could also try Audiocubes - www.audiocubes.com. They will probably have what you are looking for. I think this is what you are looking for:- Sony PC-MP3S Stereo Micro to Mini Plug. They have other similiar cables too.

Please read up on the following topic started off by myself on the 16 March. Your problem sounds familiar to my one. Problem: NW-E407 keeps switching off Please read this topic as your problem sounds very similiar. It only ever happens when I am on the move and player is kept in coat pocket. Never happens when I am stationary. Probably static as pointed out very kindly by Dinko.

I think you will find that it does concern topic as Wing was just trying to establish if there was a way of telling if the product was a European model, as to come to the conclusion with the crippled volume. We now know that it doesn't. Thanks for confirming that with us Stuge.
