looking like my connects2 adapter will arrive on the 13th (Monday). Can't wait,. Ill post a report of how well it works asap.
-
try Car Audio Plus, that's where I got mine. I don't live in the UK, but I just wanted that thing, no matter what.
Thank You
and how is it working for you? Are you using a minidisc portable or one of the hard drive players with it?

Where can I get that connects2 adapter?? I have the same Sony head unit, which I love and would be absolutley ecstatic to be able to hook up my portable HiMD!! I emailed the connects2 company at both sales and technical departments but not heard back yet.

uncovered the problem-Be aware-Yesterday I Installed AOL ver 9.0 just so I could use this free incoming phone number they were offering. Not worth it- i did an unistall of AOl and all is well with my Sonicstage WMA compatabililty

Recently I have had a problem develop with playing and transferring WMA files (totally legal non DRM files btw) on Sonicstage 4.3 with Vista Ultimate as the operating system. The files will not play giving me the following error "Cannot load the rights information for the selected tracks. The file format may ot be supported by Sonicstage. (0000010d)." I also cannot transfer to MD!!??!?!
What the $#%^$%&^%* is this about? Can anyone help?

I've had this problem too. Something I thought of but have not yet had the chance to test- Is this happening on both USB 1.1 and 2.0 connections?

Go to the options menu of your unit (most likely under "rec set") and turn off the synch rec feature.
Should do it

Is the 352 kbps codec an atrac or an atrac3+ codec? The reason I ask is that in my US version of connect the 352 does not show up under atrac3+ when choosing the bit rate in options. It is under atrac.
Does not make sense to me.

a few months ago, I accidentally left a 1Gb disc in my cargo shorts after doing yard work. Threw the shorts in the washer and dryer!! realized I left the disc in the pocket when folding the clothes. It still works perfectly!!
-
I noticed that the 1G disks come in a different case than the old ones. Is this because they are more fragile? Are they more likley to be damaged if I don't bother with the case or use one of the old style cases?
no difference in durability. the larger cases were most likely for more labeling room since you can fit so much more onto a 1Gb disc.

Hey guys,
Will there every be new minidiscs that can hold more for NetMD players? and why can't NetMD players use the 1GB Hi-MDs? Sony should make a minidisc like that which can be supported for the NetMD which would surely make many people happy, or they should come up with 120-minute minidiscs because there are CD's that exist today that can hold 120-minutes.
I think you mean DVDs holding 120 minutes.

More or less correct -- I was trying to say that the quality of a high end deck at LP2 sounds at least as good if not better than a portable HI-MD unit at HI-SP.
Since the compression is higher in LP2 than HI-SP it would appear that a high end HI-MD deck equivalent say to the MDS-JB980 would really "Blow any competition" away when using HI-SP.
Currently "There's no such animal" but if one came out I would want it.
On portable equipment LP2 definitely doesn't sound as good as HI-SP --but the amount of difference is really up to the listener's ears and for most portable listening environments such as Trains, Cars etc. is probably more than acceptable.
I think that there is definitely a PRO trend emerging here --this should ensure the continuation of the Format --even if Sony seems to "have got its collective knickers in a twist" as far as Consumer level gear is concerned.
Cheers

Audiocubes.com just started offering the Onkyo Hi-MD decks in the past day or two. The cheaper unit goes for about $469 USD. Kind of steep,. but Onkyo quality,. hmmm, I'm tempted.

.... One nice thing I must mention is that it is possible to make a small picture of a CD cover and use it as the album art.
If You go to amazon.com and look up an album/cd you can save the image of the cover to your hard disk and then add it to your recording/album in SS library. Then it would import to your dh10p along with the music right?
-
perhaps your car MD is pre-MDLP (and it will only play SP)... what format did you use on the discs: LP2, LP4? Try recording one in SP and see if that works
if not, let us know...greetings, Volta
Yeah, that is definitely the case. That model is not an MDLP capable model. So it is probably a matter of recording your MDs in SP only.

This car deck has actually been around for quite a while,. I think crutchfield was just out of stock and showing the expected restock date.

I have followed the instructions of many sites. Just type .aa to .mp3 in google. Basically use Goldwave to import and save the .aa Audible.com files into WAV, MP3 or anything you want.
You might end up with the same problems I have with large WAV, though.
I tried generating the same 8hours book parts into mp3s, but SonicStage says that it doesn't recognize them... go figure.... I swear they are regular mp3s, nothing funky, except that they are 8 hours long!!!!
I guess SONY does not take into account sound files of long duration. I will try playing with it, but I am pretty stuck. I wish somebody could test it too, just in case I am losing it
Cheers
A great program called "cool mp3 splitter". This is exactly what I use it for. Convert the waves to mp3 (or use dbpower converter to convert the .aa file directly to mp3) and then cool mp3 splitter to split the large mp3 into any determined length you want. I personally tell it to split to 600 second files (10 minutes) and it then creates all the successive 10 minute files and names them 001, 002, 003, etc. Works Great!!

What is participant's of this thread opinion on the following:
Recording directly to a portable (like NH800) to LP2 (not SS transfer) from a 192 or 160 kbps WMA? I think it sounds pretty good,. indistinguishable from the WMA file.
-
Yes it indeed work's in Hi-Md mode I knew that already but try to transfer your 96bit
mp3 to lp2 on a non hi-md formatted disc and it won't work !
I did,. and I just did it again. An 80 minute disc,. formatted to NetMD,. on my MZRH10 (japanese model),. 96 and 128 mp3 to LP2.
-
Not true guys. Sonicstage will let you go from an 128 or even lower bitrate to 132 atrac file on conversion. I just did it as a test with a file that is 96 mp3 and a 128 mp3. worked perfectly.
Be sure that all of your options,. etc are chosen correctly in Sonicstage.
-
I believe the answer is no.
it's definitely no. It is a charging cradle only. You have to take the RH10 off cradle to connect USB>
-
I havent had programs crashing my system since the 90's, and thats when I think they wrote this cripe.
Have you ever seen such a micky mouse app. ?
The units also..... are not what I expect from a japanese company, but then looking at the bottom I find "made in china", if I wanted "made in china" I would have bought an Alba or some such.
They clearly think they are in a position to just lord it over the consumers or something, well they came unstuck with me, as I just microwaved the thing and took it back to the shop.
Funny,. I don't hear many people complaining about the newer versions of Sonicstage. It seems to work quite well and be much more stable than the older (before 2.0) versions. What version are you (or were) using?

Hello everyone! this board was kinda hard to find anyway... im using a MZ-N510 and recording in LP4 mode and no matter what software i use i cant record more then 60 mins using several different programs. This problem recently started to happen, before after a certain point the MD would run out of characters and just put songs with no words on them which i can deal with, but now i can use the last 20 mins of my disc any help?
Is it happening on just one disc? If so,. try a new disc. It may be the disc is defective.

Well I have a hi-md..
the rh10..
it worked fine with the 2.3.. as atrac3+ was in the drop down menu for settings.. but in the update dversion.. it only has atrac3.. no + in sight.. sigh... I guess I will have to live with atrac3 ...

Makes no sense at all. Are you sure you're using a disc in Hi-MD mode? If it is in regular MD mode it will not give you the option of transferring in atrac3+ formats.
Using Sony CDX-GT81UW USB Input with MZ-RH1?

been using mine for couple days now. It is pretty good - excellent sound when listening to 192k and higher bit rates. Have got the Title and Artist when using the NH900 but not new models as stated in the other post about this adapter. Personally I don;t think it's worth it to send in for firmware upgrade just so I can use my rh10 or rh1 with it. However, if the newer firmware also fixes a problem Im having then it is worth it. Problem is this. If I remember to change my Lidtening source before turning off the car (like switching to CD or FM),. then when I go back to the Hi-MD after restarting the car, it remembers where I left off,. but I have to remember to do that everytime,. kind of a pain. If I shut off the car with the Hi-MD playing,. the next time I start up it goes back to the beginning of the disc. A little annoying but not a big deal.
Overall I am impressed with the sound and love being able to navigate my Hi-MD from the HU. BTW, it goes to six on groups and then starts over as if it is another 6 disc changer in the car. ie,. when I go to the 7th group on the disc it reads as group one. hmmm.
