  1. I was listening to a disc I've listened to before w/o problems & it just stopped playing. No errors or recovery just stopped. So I skipped to the beginning of the track & it stopped @ the same place. Pulled out the disc & slid the shutter open & a 1/8" piece of lint was right there. Just blew it off, popped it back in the player & it was OK. Never experienced that with any of my old MDs. Must've gotten into the player then into the disc. Just sharing my experience & wondering if anyone else had experienced it too.
  2. So too have I. Annoying, isn't it.
  3. This topic is probably what you're experiencing: SS3.3 is buggy Look for my entries, there R other bugs mentioned also. Your problem may be caused a different way but I'm guessing it's the same module(s) within SS that R the culprit. Unfortunately there's no solution/fix just workarounds.
  4. I wouldn't bother doing all that normally, because U have 2 do it track by track. Anyway, just 4 giggles: 1. I selected all the tracks manually for an album, & used "Tools" -> "MyLibrary" -> "Convert Format". 2. Then cancelled the process in the middle of a song. 3. Restarted the whole process again for all the songs. I repeated multiple times on different songs. The same artifact bug appeared 4 every song the convert was in process. Not surprising since they're probably using the same module. I surmise your approach works if the convert process is uninterrupted. Then you can probably interrupt burning the Hi-MD as often as U wish. Still a bug though. So when can we expect SS3.4? Or should that be another thread?
  5. That would be a workaround, not a fix. But U can't import a CD @ 352kbps, only 320. What's with that? To use 352, U must submit to the conversion step as you're burning the Hi-MD.
  6. Here's how 2 recreate the artifacts. 1. Import some CDs @1411kbps into MyLibrary. 2. Select some albums to transfer to Hi-MD @ 352kbps. 3. When you see a song "Converting x%" hit the "stop transferring" button. 4. When SS is finished stopping. Delete the whole album you were transferring from the Hi-MD disk. 5. Transfer that album again to Hi-MD. Let it finish. 6. Listen for the artifact at the beginning of the song you stopped transferring in the middle of being converted in step 3. I can do this everytime now. Oh yeah.

    2GB+ Minidiscs?

I recall some early Hi-MD threads discussing the ability to support 2GB & higher (maybe 4GB) disks. But the player/recorders would have to abandon supporting the older pre-Hi-MD disks. Haven't seen or heard anything 4 quite awhile now. It would B nice.
  8. OK. I think I was playing Solitaire when importing. I'll give it another try with absolutely, positively nothing happening this time. Sigh. Thanks. Based on the fact only 2 of us B4 your reply experienced this. I was beginning 2 think it was my CD player/burner flaking out, but giving no indication. Still is dubious in nature. Why would SS be mucking with the music if it's importing it uncompressed, 1411kbps. It should be laying it down as is on the hard drive. Anyway, thanks again 4 the thought/suggestion.
  9. I imported 30 CDs B4 noticing this. The same tracks with the artifacts will convert to MD OK at all the other bitrates. What's odd is re-importing the CD clears the problem. But U don't know it exists until you listen to every track on the MD. It doesn't just happen with the 1st track of a CD either.
  10. YES! I experience this also. It's sound from the same track about a minute into the track playing for about a second, then the track commences normally. I've had this with 3 CDs. I don't hear the artifact when playing it back from SS3.3 on the HD, just the MD. I have to re-import the CD & re-transfer it to MD. I too am importing at 1411kbps & burning to MD at 352kbps. Here's my PC info: Dell Inspiron 8200 Windows XP SP1 Intel Pentium 4-M 2.2GHz 512MB RAM Nothing else was running. Here's my SS info: SonicStage : 3.3.03.10270 SonicStage Add-on for Personal Audio Download : 3.3.00.09270 OpenMG Secure Module : 4.3.00.08302 MagicGate Memory Stick Device : 4.3.00.08302 NW-E2, NW-E3, NW-E5 and NW-E8P : 4.3.00.08302 OpenMG CD : 4.3.00.08302 M.S. 11. I found that pic also, not too long back. See this thread mdcf
  12. Blast, I just bought 30 1GBs. Oil Well.
  13. I'm on the fence. Certainly too bulky for the pockets. But I too have been experimenting with custom inserts, then duplicating them for the not so sticky labels supplied. They seem robust enough for what they are but are a serious waste of space. Thought I could stick 2 in there but they won't close.
  14. As per suggested I upgraded from some cheap off the shelf earbuds to some decent Sennheiser Px-100s. They're very comfortable over long periods of use, a little bassy but nothing U can't adjust from the source. I did try the AKG-K24-P's & they sounded brighter, crisper, & louder. But they looked odd, & I questioned how long they'd really last from any physical use. I got mine at a local place called HeadRoom http://www.headphone.com/ they specialize in nothing but phones/amps. It was nice to walk in & try out different phones rather than rely on other peoples tastes. FYI they have price matching & free FedEx shipping( all 50 U.S. on orders > $49 ). I have no affiliation with them, just a satisfied customer.

    Rh-10 W/o Oled?

It's clearly an LCD. The description is unchanged I'll agree. I'll venture perhaps Sony is discontinuing the OLED, or offering an alternative LCD vs. the OLED. Why post a mock up? Maybe its a premature post. Time will tell.
  16. Go to sonystyle site below & enlarge the image. That's not an OLED, but it's clearly labelled as an RH-10 @ the same price. Couldn't find any posts regarding this. It's been on their site for @ least a couple weeks. http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP....isc_HiMDWalkman
  17. Thanks 4 the responses. Yeah, on one hand I say great too. Just unexpected, & hard 2 believe on the other. Guess I'll lay more varied tracks & compare 2 C if it's even worth the discs to use PCM. I'll B hard pressed in some instances 2 fill an entire 8 hours/disc though as some have previously mentioned. I didn't bother 2 install the older version. The newer version runs my CPU @ 98%. Guess it's asking alot to read the CD, & communicate with the Hi-MD "simultaneously". "transparent psychoacoustics" = "hearing loss"
  18. I perceive no difference between the same songs from the same CD source between PCM & Hi-SP. Has anyone experienced this or R my ears just gone? I've clearly chosen the correct recording mode on Simple Burner & the RH-910. Track info indicates this, as well as the space occupied. Would I notice a difference via optical recording. A newer version of Simple Burner came with my RH-910, it's 2.0.05.25150 vs. the downloadable version on this forum which is 2.0.04.18080. Thanks in advance for any suggestions/answers.
