  1. You should get either the MZ-RH910 or the MZ-RH10. They both have microphone inputs. The RH10 has a nicer display than the RH910, but they're the same otherwise.
  2. Got given a Sharp MD-MT290 for birthday present a couple of years ago - use that for copying and listening to language tapes mostly. Sony MZ-RH910 is my latest HiMD 'baby', which is great for music since I now have Sonicstage 3.3 installed on my home laptop. I'm obviously a bit of a Sony gadget fan as I also have an HD5.
  3. I wonder which 'other forum' that would be? Any way, I bought some pretty coloured rubber bands yesterday, so I could attach my remote control to the side of my NW-HD5. I have a blue silicone skin for it, and the blue band works great! Pretty exciting, eh? and only cost 99p for a big bag
  4. I like my sounds on the 'bright' side, so I usually set the mids and treble up and the bass not so much (on both Hi-MD RH910 and NW-HD5). Currently I have: Custom 1: +0 +2 +1 + 2 + 3 + 2 Custom 2: +1 +1 +2 + 3 + 3 + 2
  5. Sony MZ-RH910, along, of course with its obligatory named "Side-car" -
  6. You should be fine to record violin music with a Sony. It's only extremely loud situations like rock concerts that would over load a sony mic input. Even a full blown symphiny orchestra isn't usally loud enough to cause any distortion.
  7. Mine does - but only when running for the bus
  8. Great to hear you've come back to MD! But I'd still get a case for your NH700, if I were you and treat it carefully. They are rugged, but can still be broken. I have a HDD (Sony NW-HD5) and an RH910, which gives me the best of both worlds. The HD5 does seem much more fragile, and skips a lot more - well actually the MD never skips. Anyway, enjoy your lovely MD!
  9. No portable MD players have this. What's wrong with walking around with earphones on? You wouldn't be irritating your colleagues too much then...

Well, there's hope for us all then (only a few years to go till I'm knocking on 60)...
  11. Yes, but not all cassettes sound as good as FM though
  12. I have the tune free devcice, and use it with my NW-HD5 in my car. I'd say it's not bad in terms of quality, about as good as a cassete adaptor probably, and the battery lasts me about a week. Obviously it would be best to get through an aux input, but this isnt bad if you don't have that option.

    NH1 vs NH900

I'd go for the NH900, if you dont mind the slight thickness - it's not that bad really) - as you can use it with commonly available batteries (AA and/or gumstick)...
  14. 'Alternative' from the early 80's which is 'my' era (hope it doesn't age me ) : The Smiths/Morrisey, Echo & The Bunnymen, Siouxsie, Cocteau Twins, Jesus & Mary Chain, Wedding Present, and so on . Oh, also some T-Rex and I love the The Libertines too..
