  1. To the person who mentioned earlier hopes of 3.4 fixing installation problems: It hasn't fixed the 'OpenMG Secure Module' install termination problem.
  2. The best case scenario would be an open ended system like the PSP's, which people have hacked to hell to cheat the system. Now I realize we're talking about two different things here, but we also have to take into account that Sony sells more PSP units than Minidisc units, yet Minidiscs get the lockdown. With the right people, i'm sure the Minidisc commmunity could break through the technological gates Sony set up inside of the MD format, and crack it wide open. With the right info, we could create an alternative browswer, create our own firmware, even improve performance! Some hacks (The battery hacks for one) are already realized and put into motion. But most of these don't actually have anything to do with what makes the Minidisc run. It is a dream, but it may not be too far off.
  3. Watched "THX 1138" for the first time in over 9 years the other day. Damn, I forgot how awesome that movie was.
  4. Sorry about the delay, New Years was kinda wild and took up most of my weekend time. I'll get to testing out the Service Pack and/or upgrade rollback to see if it does anything later on this week, if not when my new graphics card comes in.
  5. The last guy I got said that he thinks changing things around is an unnessicary ploy Sony gives to scare off customers. He gave me a direct link to his extention, and we will be working on this heavily tomorrow afternoon. I will post the results. If they are inconclusive, I will remove my card and RAM, install, and test from there.
  6. 2051 = NoFault Data 20703 = Interactive This is what I got out of the current Tech Support guy i'm speaking to. Apparently they are 'programmers codes.'
  7. On the PC i'm using temporarily to transfer stuff, it won't recognize the USB device. Can somebody send me the USB drivers for the MZDH10P? It keeps telling me the device Malfuctioned on those little windows info bubbles and SonicStage won't let me transfer stuff to it.
  8. Ok, I just got my call i've been expecting from Sony. According to their engineers: My computer needs to be reset to a factory preset. I have to remove my Graphics card and extra RAM sticks. This will basically return my computer into a near worthless bucket of bolts. They did say that 'we cannot force the end user to do so, so it IS up to you'. Why, thank you Sony. You screw over systems but it's our choise wether to let you bend us over and use us like Fresh Fish? For the moment, i've decided to use it as a storage device with my comptuer, and will install sonicstage on a different computer and send all my stuff I want to listen to over to that one. If anything else arises, let me know if you find anything. I'll let anyone know if I find a way around what the problem is myself. Thanks to all again who were paitent enough with me. Maybe our findings can help out someone in the future.
  9. Forgive me for my lack of understanding, but what is it exactly that i'm supposed to do with the MDAC repair tool? What is it that i'm looking for exactly to fix? EDIT: I instead decided to use the MDAC reinstall instructions found in the Software FAQs thread, and tried installing with the 3.2 installer. The install failed, the same spot, the exact same way it always does. No matter what, it seems that I cannot use any new versions of any form of OpenMG, which is bad because I want to be able to use SonicStage 3.0 and up's new features which seem to be more in my interest than 2.0.
  10. Reinstalled 2.0, rebooted, tried using the Offline installer, and it came to the OpenMG installer again. It stalled, uninstalled the older version of the OpenMG secure Module, and the installer than continued, exactly how it always does. Finally, at the end, the installer stalls while at the 'publishing information' step, and BAM. [attachmentid=1275] This pops up. Just like it always has. So here's the rundown so far: -SonicStage 2.0 i.)Older OpenMG works ii.)SonicStage 2.0 works -SonicStage 3.3 i.)Newer OpenMG does not install. ii.)SonicStage 3.3 refuses to boot without the newest Version of the OpenMG Package. iii.)Both Offline and Online installers refuse to install the OpenMG Secure Module and Limited Patch. The 3.3 installer is for some reason, being 'terminated' or 'interuppted' (The Web Installer says the installation was Terminated, Offline says interuppted.) as it is attempting to install the OpenMG Secure Module and Limited Patch. Even following the instructions found in this thread, and removing all traces of the program, it is somehow still interuppted. SonicStage installs fine. OpenMG, however, will not.
  11. Just tried something that failed. I reinstalled 2.0 off of the disc I found. EVERYTHING, including the OpenMG secure Module worked. I was able to boot up 2.0 with no problems. I try to install 3.3 on top of this, and it instead uninstalls everything that was there previously, and takes forever to install the new stuff. Yet the same exact error popped up at the exact time it always has, right when it's installing the new version of the OpenMG Secure Module. That was with the Web installer. I haven't tried using the offline installer yet, but I don't think it would work with the official 2.0 on there.
  12. Pardon me for being a tad bit impatient, but after repeated calls to Sony's Tech support line and constantly getting shifted around like a toy i've grown a little tired of the game. Does anyone have any more ideas reguarding getting this stuff installed? If any more information reguarding my computer is needed I will provide it to the best of my ability. Just as long as I can get this thing working.
  13. I thought that I would add, that when I use the stand alone installer for the OpenMG, it does not act funny at all. It seems like it's going to install just fine, and then as it's publishing the information (the last step?), it pauses. Then it proceeds to tell me that the program was interrupted and the installation never finished. EDIT: I just tried to install in Safe Mode, and even though everything installed in about 1-2 split seconds, It once again screwed up in the exact same fashion during the OpenMG installation. I tried to use the piece-by-piece installation, but it said that it could not find the Installshield stuff required for it. An odd thing I noticed is that every time I try to install this thing, it takes up another chunk of my harddrive that doesn't come back when I delete the temp files and the other pieces of the leftover stuff.
  14. Welcome to the Minidisc.org Forums! Enjoy your stay. Can you be a little more specific on what the problem is you're getting? Sounds to me like you have a very similar problem to the one i'm having. In This Topic, you will see a link to a site where you can download versions of stuff separately from each other. There's a link to a separate version of the OpenMG Secure Module and Limited Patch in there. Hope that helps!
  15. Didn't work. The OpenMG installer had the exact same screwup that it always does when it's with a Web installer or the offline installer. Been on the phone with customer Service for 2 hours and 37 minutes. Most of that is being on hold for this so called 'Product Specialist' to pick up the phone. Ok, they asked me for my amount of RAM, Processor Speed, and Graphics card. They told me that an engineer was going to be working on it and would hopefully have an answer within the next two days. Of course, i'm still trying to see what I can figure out on my own. I'd be pretty happy if they called me and They said "Ok sir, we have the results." And I could just Smile and say "Oh that's ok, I fixed it already."
