  1. I purchased one of his gold NH1's last month. He gives a discount for direct deposit and the price is negotiable. Great transaction!
  2. One format for house, auto and portable! It was possible with MDLP; now it's time to provide it with HiMD. It is awkward using AUX-IN to get the same functionality.
  3. Will be adding the sexy black model to the collection, for sure! I'll miss the charging stand, though! I'm with DEX on being able to overcome the external battery issue - not really an issue, especially since I have rarely used it anyway.

I'm with you, BeciMester. I use my NH1 almost everyday for listening to music at work - 35 hours/disc of reasonable quality music -able to quickly replace it with another 35 hours, at will. It connects to the car headunit and home amp; it goes everywhere with me. It is rare that I record with it but apreciate the ability.
  5. What else is there to do in Sask in the winter?
  6. If you have component based Hi-Fi, I have had great results using the line-out from the component (usually connects to the amp) connecting it to the line-in on the RH10.
  7. nikolai, I purchased the NH1, new, from ebay, out of the States - there are still more listed. I was dinged the taxes and brokerage fees but if you use USPS for delivery, the brokerage fees are kept below $10. There is someone listing a "gold" NH1 (only available in Japan) for a little over $300 but the silver ones go for just over $200USD. Best of luck - I really like the weight & size of the NH1!
  8. I, too, purchased the RH10 from an ebay "buy-it-now" auction, out of Japan, and received it very quickly. As far as NH1 vs. RH10, they both have their merits. I really like the slim, light, case of the NH1 as well as the line-out. Since there is no Hi-MD deck or head unit, I use the NH1(NH900)/line-out with the home stereo and in the car. NH1 does have a lithium-ion battery and much better remote. I keep the recorder in a protective case and use it via the remote but ... can't use the remote with line-out enabled! The NH1 requires the cradle to charge the battery (no DC in on the recorder) so powering in the car would require the cradle. The NH900 works very similar to the NH1 but has more lines and a jog-dial which makes it faster to scroll through the tracks. The 900 also has a DC-in! If size matters, the NH1 wins but it really boils down to features and needs!
  9. Stevie Ray Vaughan Santana Jack Johnson Dave Matthews
  10. I also have the CA680x. In order to get RCA inputs for portable audio players you will need to use the Sony XA-300. Once this is connected, the head unit will have extra inputs to select from. The XA-300 provides 2 sets of RCA inputs (AUX1, AUX2), port for headphones (don't know why) as well as a USB for computer feeds. The XA-300 connects to the head unit with a control cable and an RCA cable for the sound. The XA-300 is fairly small (5-15/16"W x 1-3/8"H x 7-1/8"D). I believe many of us are waiting for Sony to introduce the Hi-MD version of the MDX-CA680x.
  11. To just protect the RH10, I have been using the neoprene case from Case Logic. Minidisc-Canada has them for $9 Cnd: Minidisc-Canada neoprene minidisc case
  12. I recently purchased a new NH1 from eBay - they still pop up on occassion! I see that Japan-Direct has them but you pay a premium. They can sell you a "Japan Only" gold version!
  13. I, too, use SB for ripping CD's as I have no need to land the music on the harddrive. The question remains, does the quality setting of high in SS provide better quality playback than SB??
  14. Received the exchange disc yesterday - great variety; loving it! What's next?
  15. I would rather have 30+ hours on a disc at reasonable quality than a few hours at extremely high quality. I have tested both and found the 64 bit rate close to the SP and certainly within range of my listening needs.
