  1. The way noise filter works is first you select a section of your file that has the noise in it ie:(noise sample). Then you select the part of the file you would like to filter the noise out of. Or you could select the entire file. But keep in mind these filters could be cutting out some of the music you would like to keep.
  2. I've used my MZ-rh910 and in ear binaural Mic's to record some things. I wish there was a plugin for sonic stage that could give me that sound. The sound is so spread out even behind you. Unlike normal music recordings setup for loudspeakers. A good Binaural recording on my MD just sounds better than my home system. And I'm using a pair Magnapan's so that's saying something. Sony if your listening please look into a way for us to get this kind of sound out of our music. Adding this kind of quality sound to your products would be a real Ipod killer.
  3. Here is a link to the tutorials for audacity. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help/tutorials Now for the way that I do it. First I record the songs onto my mini disk in pcm format using the line out from my preamp to the line in on my MD. I set the recording level to -12db like the manual says. That leaves plenty of headroom. Next inport the music file as a WAV file into sonic stage 3.4. I use sonic stage to name the file. Next I open the WAV file with audacity. I lisen to the whole file for any noise I would to get rid of. I use noise removal to get rid of any rumble and click removal to get rid of any clicks. After that save back to WAV and inport back into sonic stage. There may be more about audacity on the software section of this group. The program has a lot of tools you can use. You can cut and paste. fade/in fade/out cross/fade amplify, normalize, and a lot more than I can list here. I think it's a lot like photo/shop for sound files
  4. I've recorded some things with this setup. And the realsum is incredibal. I wish there was a way to edit my music files to have this sound.
  5. I've been using my MZ-rh910 to record my old Lp's. I have to say it works pretty good. Transfer the PCM file over to the computer. Than use Audacity to cleanup the noise and normalize the file. And it's ready to burn onto a CD.
  6. go with the grado's the style may no look like much but the sound can't be touched for four times the price. take a look at what others are saying about them
  7. Just got a set from minidisco. Man do thay sound good. I don't think you could find any thing better for $69.
  8. I would like to have the option to normalise my files during the transfer to the Md. ljadkins
  9. Looks good I've just started playing with it.
  10. I just riped Bruce Hornsby's The way it is. using advanced lossless 256kps. And the sound is just stuning. Jeff Adkins Ps: the hight end is so clear I think I'll have to rerip all my cd's now
  11. First off I already own several Sony products a Sony (TC-615S cassette deck with Dolby S no less), the first fm walkman, an am/fm/cassette walkman, MZ-N505 NET MD walkman, and I have just ordered Sony MZ-RH910 Hi-MD walkman. Even my kids own Sony portable CD players. The only reason I ordered the new Hi-md walkman is because of the changes in the new version of SonicStage. It looks like Sony has gotten rid of all of the anal-retentive digital rights management @#%*&. I Have always liked Sony's electronic products. And when Sony bought the movie studios and the record companies I understood that the Betamax flop left a bad taste in there mouth. Any new media format would have a ready supply of content. With the new man in charge maybe things will change I hope so. I still have a large collection of LP's and cassette's that I have not converted over to mini-disk or CD. At one time I would record all my LP's over to cassette for the car and portable walkman. Playing with my MZ-N505 NET MD walkman I can see that all the connections are right there to do what I want. First of all the analog section of my MD portable is better than any sound card I have ever installed in my computer. I would like to use my MD walkman like a USB sound card using the headphone's to listen to every thing music on my computer or the mini disk in the player this includes optical in from the md player. Take a look at all the devices out there used to do this on the market now. Sony could take a page from Microsoft's playbook on this by incorporating these new functions pioneered by others. It's time for Sony electronics to leapfrog the competition. The Apple Mac got it's customer base on the strength of a hand full of software applications one of these is photo shop. Total Sonic Solution Sony should dominate the market in digital audio creation, editing, and dissemination. Such a system would be perfect for pod casting. Jeff Adkins
  12. I'll vote for that if I could use normalization befor I upload to player.
  13. I have and older netmd device (MZ-N505) I may have to get one of the new HIMD decks. Way to go sony. If your mini disks had worked like this from the start there wouldn't be any other mp3/ipods out there.
