Ack. mrsoul, good catch! I called that for you just now, got connected to an online representative, and here's how it went: me - (explained seeing the "Sony MZ-RH1 MiniDisc Walkman" on the website and now it's gone) her - Unfortunately, I'm seeing that it was indeed listed, but we never actually got to selling it. I'm sorry about this. me - It was more of a coming-soon ad instead of an available purchase. Will it make another coming-soon appearance on your site or is it gone for good? her - Well, hmm, it seems like we never got stock of it even though we had it advertised as coming soon. I'm really sorry. It's gone for good.

lol Looks like I hit a big nerve. You even had to censor yourself. Your lack of facts is the reason why I supplied them to this thread. Not that the classifieds always need detailed essays on everything, but at least comment on why you're selling it (Volta's question) and other details covered in sector's questions. Maybe your way is the way they sell things on Head-Fi and Amazon, I don't know. But, the fact that people had questions for you shows that your "ad" was incomplete. I shared what I could and that was your Head-Fi sig, which contradicted with what you originally said in this thread and that compelled me even more to say something. A simple "PM me for details" would've helped out and even prevented me from saying anything at all. But, ah, shoulda, coulda, woulda... The people who PMed me about your player did so (I'm guessing) because of what I posted about its usage. "I can see wear on the upper left." "Why doesn't he just come clean. You can tell it's seen more than uploading." (Although like I said, I didn't see any wear myself.) No need for name-calling ("moron") and cursing, or is this how they do things at your beloved Head-Fi? As for my wording, I was to the point and if you felt that it denigrated your "reputation" (lol) on this forum, then that is your own personal issue. Internet forums aren't for the weak-hearted as you will never please everyone and since we're entitled to our own opinions that leaves the floor open to criticism. I'm not going to sugar-coat things if at the time, I feel you're doing something wrong. As for economics, I never said I was knowledgeable about that subject - lol that's not even the basic problem. I had a problem with the way you advertised your unit; you disagree and can't handle it. I just know what looks fishy to me may not look fishy to you. Have a good day and take care. And please, I'm just another irritating forumer on the web, so feel free to just ignore me and move on.

That is what I thought, too. If not, then I don't feel so bad for unintentionally upping their bill a little when I clicked on some accidentally. -
To me, not telling the entire truth is the same as lying, so I lump them under the heading of "dishonesty." This is a used unit and so a lot of question will be raised as to how the unit has been used - lol. He only stated that it was used to upload legacy and left out that it was both a portable and home rig. I did not expect him to never listen to it, but why did he choose to leave out major details on how he really used it? I know you've seen people on T-Board who have MD units dedicated for uploading/downloading and to me, my understanding is that they never leave the computer's side. That type of unit would be in mint condition compared to something that has seen extensive use like astranovus's. Someone had also PMed me that they had seem some wear on the unit in the pic (although I don't see wear myself). Sorry if you are disappointed, but doubt will always linger in the classifieds as this forum has had experience with people admitting to passing off malfunctioning units as "like new" or "mint condition." Again, please note that I wasn't the only one questioning this sale (my PM box can tell you the same). I had an N1 that was also in mint condition. I also had the original box and all accessories in mint condition. And, I only used it for downloading. The only thing is that the optical head crapped out. But, you'd never know it just by looking at pics, so more questions do need to be asked if you don't want to be screwed over. I can sense a thread closing as this unit is already sold. Congrats, astranovus.

I agree. More designs and colors for the NetMDers, too. There are MDLP player-only units that are the same thickness as the EH1. (The E10 is even smaller than the EH1.) lol There are also some pretty fat NetMD units - those PSYC ones come to mind. You can also try: minidiscaccess.com minidisco.com jr.com bhphotovideo.com It's too bad only a few places have the Sharp Auvi units. And, they're charging a premium for them.

greenmachine: Looking good! I'd add the DH710 to the 2nd gen and since you're including the EH1, I'd also add the EH930, EH50, and EH70 to the 1st gen.

Sector is right. If you go to his link and click on "OWNERS MANUAL" at the bottom (near the Add to Cart button), you'll see that it has both MZ-RH1 and MZ-M200 on it.

It isn't a thread hijack, but more a request for you to step up the honesty level. Plus, someone else has suggested that you explain more of the unit's history and/or function. It was both your portable and home rig and to me, that says it was used for more than just legacy uploading as you previously stated. If you noticed, I'm not the only one who is questioning the low price, which you'll have to admit, does raise doubt as to the working function and mint condition of the unit. My concern is the welfare of MDCF members, not your sale, sir, that is, if you don't withdraw it like you have done twice already on this forum. ^ This is why it has to do with honesty. Edit: This is the last I'll say on this matter. Good luck with your sale.

It's not Hi-MD, but for me, that Auvi sound is still tops. And, for the record, you don't necessarily HAVE to go with Hi-MD, although like Volta, I recommend it. But, if you like the non-Hi-MD units then that is fine, too. There are plenty of MD users on this forum and others that didn't go Hi-MD and are doing very well without it. Don't feel pressured to do so. Plus, I'm sure you've noticed that there is more variety in designs and manufacturers of non-Hi-MD units compared to Hi-MD. I think that Hi-MD is ideal (capacity-wise), but I also feel that it is not THE ONLY way to go if you like the minidisc format. PS The guy who said "Less than that ..say no to it" has never owned anything older than Hi-MD, so he shouldn't be too quick to judge since he doesn't have adequate experience with both.

Astranovus: You have used it for more than uploading legacy MDs. I think your signature at Head-Fi clearly shows that. Being honest and providing more explanation about its use/history will help you get more interested buyers. (And, no, I'm not interested.)

Sounds like a Sony player-only model, and not a downloader, to me. Nearly all of their players have their buttons hidden on the side and/or the back of the unit and no screens. The only downloader that I can think of that doesn't have buttons or a screen on the front is the NH3D. The EH1 only came in black or silver. The ones with N (for NetMD, I believe) are downloaders. A list of Sonys: http://www.minidisc.org/part_Players_Sony.html. A lot of the Sony (and other brands') players are pretty thin. My E720 is the same thinness as my EH1 (except where the E720 bulges a little at the end to accomodate the NiMH battery). Good luck.

KrazyIvan did a nice pictorial/comparison of the CX300 and E3220 over at T-Board, if you're interested.

The reason I asked if you bought it used or new is because if you bought it used, you may have trouble getting your money back from eBay or PayPal. I remember seeing their auctions for used items and it states that they didn't test its functions or they don't know if it works because it is old, old stock (or something like that), so sales are "as is." That's why their used units sell for about 1/4 the price of their new-in-box ones. It's cheap, but comes with great risk and without accessories. That seller has a lot of old, used stock of the same/similar unit. Have you tried calling them and negotiating a trade-in? I've noticed that they do like direct contact instead of eBay messaging. (If you don't have their number, PM me and I'll see what I can do.) Good luck.

I don't know about the RH1, but from my understanding, those units don't have a true line-out like tykel68's R50 or the R30 do. The newer MD units have the headphone/line-out combo. Not sure if that will make a difference to you or not.

I have an older model deck, a Sony JE500 (1996). I use 80 minute discs in it all the time. No problems with 80, 74, or 60.
-
If you really, really like the RH10's big screen, but need to use a Mac, you can try looking for an MZ-M100 (http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-M100+RH10.html). Good luck.

Did you purchase this unit new or used from this seller? If you bought it used, then yeah, you're screwed. If you bought it new, then they should have a 1-year warranty where if there are any problems, you send it to them and they get it repaired for you. A friend of mine bought a new NH700 from one of their 3 related companies, not pramit though.

I'm with Nismo. Be very careful when entering service mode to hack your N505. Here is an MDCF page that contains a table showing exactly what the hack will do to your unit along with more detailed hacking information. You can decide whether it's worth it or not. My N505 is hacked and I admit that I do like the extra features. Good luck and hopefully, we won't see you here again (to post about your hack gone wrong, that is). http://www.minidisc.org/mzr700_to_mzr900.html Oh, and welcome to MDCF!

Personally, I don't hold much value to most AudioCubes' reviews, especially if it's the 1st and only review. You never know how far people will go and how much BS they'll say just to get that AC $5-off coupon or to cure their boredom. Check out these shady reviews on the outrageously-priced 37LT remote: http://www.audiocubes.com/category/Audio+P...ner_remote.html As for MD blanks, someone asked a similar question a few months ago. I think the bottom line was there are differences in luck rather than brand or sound differences. Edit: Here's that old thread. Which are the best brands of MD media?

I noticed that, too, and that's usually spam's warning shot for me. If spam were a disease, this guy/girl may be just a papercut. Besides, the post is so long (and boring, for me, at least), that I can't see an MDCF-er taking the time to read it and clicking away. If it gets worse, I'm sure Adrian et al have their fingers on the trigger already. It sure beats the spam about weight loss, drug discounts, cell phone sales, and odd fetishes involving minors and barnyard animals.

It's like 90% Wikipedia. Seems harmless. Maybe just someone trying to spread knowledge (or has nothing better to do at work as a system admin).

Yeah, but it was originally posted over at T-Board. Here you go! http://www.audiotstation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28359

Just a few suggestions off the top of my head: 1. buy an NH3D (uses the same cradle as the NH1) 2. buy another MD unit that uses LIP4WM (NH1, EH1, DH10P, RH1) 3. find someone with more than one NH3D (not likely) or more than one NH1 (more likely) and see if they'll part with one of their cradles for a price lower than Sony's replacement price - it's happened here before 4. eBay - they've had 1 or 2 cradles for sale without the MD unit and other accessories Not too many (affordable) choices, I know. You could start by posting a waiting-to-buy ad in the Classifieds forum though. Good luck!

AKG K81DJ just now delivered. And, I also got some pearly grey headphones today. Daniel: Lemmings looks like a cool game!
