You guys arent serious about this being a reason not to buy an ipod?
  2. Has anyone noticed that if there is a 2CD album, the HD5 (not sure about other units) does not organize them properly? Suppose its the ID3 tag info is as follows: Artist: Paul Oakenfold Album: Great Wall Track: Nugen - Darksides Track #: 1 Disc: 1 of 2 and then there is Artist: Paul Oakenfold Album: Great Wall Track: Paul Godfrey - Fear Track #: 1 Disc: 2 of 2 When i look at my library in my HD5, the first track of disc two is played immediately after the first track of disc one. Why doesnt it organize it by discs? Should the first disc entirely be played first in proper order and then the second one as opposed going back and forth between discs? The only solution ive found to this is renaming albums to "Great Wall CD1" and "Great Wall CD2"....not a big issue but id prefer not to.
  3. Okay, so ive got some mp3s downloaded, 44khz, id3v1 & id3v2 compliant, some with album art. None of my music is DRMed (thank god). But ive noticed SS will NOT import some of my albums. It gives me this message: "Cannot find files of the specified format for support Error Code 00007173" Why? Theres nothing wrong with my tracks. Ive tried using other software like MFM2 and it TOO doesnt recognize my tracks, both when importing those tracks tell me its an unsupported format (depending how i import, usually a mutifile import gives me unsupported format message). This is really pissing me off as i have around 7,000 tracks and now non of my Global Underground albums want to go through, my favourite mixes (over 30 sets all of which are 2CD dj mixes). Any help? Ive been thnking of doing a batch conversion to 160kbps mp3 format....im willing to let the computer run overnight and convert everything so it all works....
  4. Holy shit. Is the end of the world upon us? I think i'm gonna buy it. BAH. its not available in canada before i leave for vacation in may......hmmmm....whatever i'll just get a temporary non-himd for now.
  5. Whoa, hold on, you mean, via OS X i can take a bunch of mp3s, and transfer them onto a blank sony minidisc? Are you sure? I dont really care too much about taking recordings from the MD to Mac, but rather dropping my choons onto the md for playback.......
  6. maybe this is how sony achieved all those insane battery life times on their MDs? but never released the batteries?
  7. The fact that sony wont increase the size of hi-md discs and the new mz-rh1 only lasts about 16 hours in mp3 playback at a measly 128kbps.
  8. Well just yesterday i scored a wicked bargain on ebay:
  9. 1) Why are discs still at 1gb? Time to bring it up a notch, 1gb isnt going to cut it. 2gb or 4gb is what its going to take to keep DAP enthusiasts coming back to the MD format. 2) Battery life for mp3 playback is 16 hours @ 128kbps. Imagine the damage 192kbps would do. 25 hours would have had me screaming for joy. Those are really the only two cons with MD in its current state. Disc size and battery life.
  10. Well, my coworker has the same model, lol, i could just go and check it out his place (hes taiwanese but lived in japan so hes got some nice MD stuff on him). I'll just wait a week for my unit to come in, no biggie. I never titled my tracks before though, i probably wont title them on this thing either, too lazy and when theres only 2 CDs per disc (LP2 setting) i dont really feel the need to do so. Whatever, 27 bucks for a MDLP bookshelf, im not gonna nag, thats a steal (funny how shipping costs are higher than the unit itself while i should have paid at least 100 bucks....). I'm happy
  11. I know, but that page doesnt say anything about dubbing/cd text specifics nor does the manual.
  12. Pft, thanks for nothing guys.....on the other hand:
  13. For panasonic mini systems, when dubbing CD to MD at 4X or real time, is CD Text transferred to the MD automatically? Im particularely look at the Panasonic SA-PM37MD and can't find any info on this. If not, what about other units?
  14. DEFINATELY. The fully rotating jog dial is a must when having 1gb of storage the possibility of hundreds of tracks on one disc. Pressing buttons is a nuissance just to skip from track to track, the reason why the ipod is a little more popular than its obvious reason (advertising) is its scroll, because it WORKS. Almost every other hi-capacity DAP lacks this feature, and the ones which do, do a great job (Sandisk Sansa e260). Sony should have done a few things with this md player: -AA battery pack -3 line screen (or more) much like the RH10 -better efficiency of battery, 16 hours for mp3 playback @ 128kbps is barely beating the ipod video, and we all know sony exaggerates their estimates. -again, the rotating jog wheel
