  1. Did you try to wait 20-30sec. after plugging MZ-NF520D? I usually wait so long till SS "recognizes" the player, though I'm not in Vista.
  2. I use my Yamaha MDX-E300 for both AD and DA conversion - works perfect and without influence of ATRAC3 conversion - just in and out in any form AD, AA, DA, DD (in case resampling is needed). I think any reseiver with optical out can be used for this purporse.
  3. Just like I described a few topics ago. Still use this method sometimes, but the battery seems to get less picky. However some hardware problem must be present.

That is very interesting! Thank you very much. I never dared to open my Yamaha MDX-E300 deck although I disassembled and assembled portable units Sony 505 and 510 without demaging them . Somehow it seems dangerous to do that without service manual. Is there any source for Yamaha's service manuals?

This is exactly what I need if everything is so as described in the quick guide! The prise is a little bit disappointing... Probably in a year a similar item for 800-900 EURO could be expected - then it would be OK. Thank you very much! PC with USB or optical connection to an amp is not the same as a separate unit to me. I prefer an audio component and not a PC even if the price is almost the same.

Thanks for the link. It looks nice, but I hope to find something like a deck. One more thing I wish in a juckebox-deck is that is has to be independalble from PC or TV-set but with possibility to connect a PC for downloading/uploading. At the moment none of the units offers everything in one...
  7. I also have an AT (ATR25, powered with AA). Tried to use it with RH1 through LINE IN - nothing. The best results got from MIC IN with sensibility set to LOW (with HIGH it records talks in the neighbor flat!). How is AT-822 through LINE IN? I'm afraid I can demage MIC IN when using a AA-powered mic... silly? One more question - what is the best way to reduce static noise after recording? Or just to make lower rec level while session?

Thank you! I haven't heard about these units before. $300 for a Sony seems fair, but it seems you can not upload from it and the burned CDs are ATRAC only? Is there any internet source offering these units in Europe? How much is HDC-1.0? Do you have it? Yamaha 1500 seems to be quite the same as Sony NAC-HD1, but burns in PCM, no uploading, so you have to burm a CD to copy it to computer for editing... Well, there is possibility to take out the HDD from the unit (special door on ther rear side), to put it connect it to a computer, but it is not so easy to use after each session. From Denon you can upload easily, but without analogue and optical inputs you can not decord directly with the unit...

Thanks a lot for your message! One more Yamaha-owner:) How old is your MD8? How do you upload the mixes from it? Is it easier to make mixes on MD8 or it is just a habit of yours? I can't mix on anything but computer - just not enough patience to mix realtime from several sources. One more question - have you ever had experience contacting Yamaha's service center?

I don't mean bookshelves but HI-FI decks available in Europe... At the moment I found those 2 (Denon and Yamaha) only.
  11. In my case it didn't matter - adaptor or PC USB. I usually use adaptor and I had "low---" problem when charging via adaptor.
  12. A single "complete" discharge will destroy a lithium-ion battery, but most/all devices incorporate circuits to prevent a discharge beyond the danger point.

Actually I don't have much experiense with MD - bought my first portable (N510) in 2003. But compared with what I have ever had (N510, N505 and MZ-RH1) the sound of the deck is VERY comfortable. I don't know if it is a type R dsp - Yamaha mentiones the ATRAC for multitrackers and standard decks only and the last ones had 4.5... Does anybody know if Yamaha cooperated with SONY or SHARP constructing their MD units? Considering mentioning of ATRAC 4.5 it must be a SONY inside of Yamaha, but the sound is somehow different to be compared with my SONY porstables (RH1 is certainly much better then N510). By the way (off topic) just learned about a new Yamaha CD recorder CDR-HD1500 with a HDD. It can record from analogue sources as PCM only and there are some interesting copy right restrictions. I'm waiting for DENON 103 jukebox to compare which one to chose. Denon is more computer friendly but can not record from analogue. Is there anybody experienced with jukeboxes?

Does anyone else have a Yamaha deck? Mine is MDX-E300 - a very small and beautiful unit. I like it a lot although i don't have the other parts of PianoCraft. Can anyone compare Yamaha MD sound with sound of Sony decks? What do you think about the ATRAC version in Yamaha decks?
  15. I got my unit 4 months ago and have the charging problems from the second month. I always drain the battery and think it is the right way to prolong it's life. I also charge full battery each 3d-4th charging (additional 1,5-2 hours). So far the battery is OK exept the problem with 'low battery' mesage. I played with plugging/unplagging the cable for several times, but once I decided just to take out the battery and to switch the unit through adaptor and to press 'play'. During playing i reinserted the battery into the SWITCHED ON UNIT and it began to charge at once. Next time I didn't press 'play' - just inserted the battery while the unit is attached to the power connected adaptor - charging began without any problems. Since then I even don't try to switch the cable for charging, when the battery is in. One more remark - I ALWAYS remove the battery when using the unit with PC. In short my way to salve the charging problem is: 1. Remove the battery from the unit. 2. Connect the unit to the plugged in adaptor. 3. Without turning on (better) the unit or with turned on ('play') unit insert the battery into the unit. Charging begins. Does it help in your case? As for my unit - bought through SonyStyle Europe, 'Chinese' version.
