  1. It occurred to me that the problem is that the average 1/8" headphone extension cable has only two wires, even though it uses a TRS connector. To get power to a stereo mic at all, you need that third wire in the cable... ...I found a cable that had all three wires connected, and it fixed the problem.
  2. Hi All, I just bought a little T-shaped stereo electret microphone for my NH900. It works fine when plugged directly into the MD, but I'd like to use an extension cable. I have a few 1/8" extension cables laying around, but whenever I try to use one of them with this microphone, I get all kinds of buzzing, and no signal whatsoever from the mic. Is there some special kind of cable that I'm supposed to use for this? Where do I get one? Thanks, Tom
  3. Hi All, I just purchased a used MZ-NH900, and while almost everything seems to be working okay, I'm having some trouble recording from the microphone input. When I use a self-powered electret microphone, everything works fine, but if I turn the microphone's power off, or use a non-self-powered electret microphone, I don't get anything. This MD recorder should be providing phantom power to the mic, so I don't understand what's wrong. Is there some way to turn off the phantom power, or is something broken? Thanks, Tom oh, nevermind. I'm an idiot. The one mic appears to be hosed, while the other one didn't even have a battery in it, so the switch apparently cuts off the signal as well as the self-power. Sorry...
  4. Yes, I've tried removing/inserting the battery. Pressing play does say 'no disc'.
  5. No, there's no disc inside. I know that for sure, because I removed the screws, and peered into the inside a little bit. I couldn't figure out how to spring the latch or anything like that, but I definitely could see that there wasn't a disc in there. No amount of pressing record/play/stop seems to do anything. Any other ideas? Thanks, Tom
  6. Hi All, I just received a MZ-NHF800 that I purchased on Ebay, and it won't open ;-(. The person I bought it from won't take it back, so now I'm screwed, I guess. Does anybody know how to get it to open? I've gotten into the service mode, but I can't seem to find anything that would be helpful. By the way, I would not recommend purchasing from: Robin Mercado Norco, CA 92860 United States Username: pramit Thanks, Tom
