Mz-rh10 - Will Firmware Upgrades Be Possible?

Hi,

Just wondered if it is possible that Sony could issue firmware upgrades for the RH10 to correct the track labeling problem, or even introduce native compatibility with other audio formats, such as WMA, OGG etc.

Next question - if it is possible, how likely is it? huh.gif

Do Sony offer long term support for products, or will they just move straight onto the 3rd generation of Hi-MD machines and expect users to upgrade their hardware?

Still debating whether to get an RH10...

MD/HiMD units are considered as consumer electronics, not computer devices. Consumer electronics get replaced each year with models that have more/better (or fixed) features. Just look at DVD players, going from standard, to progressive scan, to MP3 and JPEG support, etc. Most major electronic companies (Sony, JVC, Pioneer, etc) won't just do a firmware upgrade unless the flaw is major and plenty of consumers are complaining about it. They prefer consumers to purchase the new models if they want the new features.

All we hope is later production units will get a revision update/fixes.

Sony does have new firmware to correct the labeling issue in Himd mode.

You will however have to send your unit in for service.
