Reveen
I am not sure if I am posting in the correct place, i am new to this. I just purchased a Sony MZ-NH700 and am having some problems transfering songs to it. The problem is that when I use Sonicstage to transfer an MP3 to the unit, it somehow gets garbled in the conversion to atrac. It still plays, but it hickups like crazy and sounds like garbage. I am hoping I am just doing something wrong, or there are some settings that I need to change. If I inport a cd and transfer from it, it works fine and sound great, it is just when I go right from MP3.Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! A440
You are compressing an already compressed file (the mp3), which means quality loss. Try changing the settings in SonicStage. Under Tools/Options/Transfer, highlight Hi-MD and click on Transfer Settings. It may be on 48 kbps--switch to a higher one like 132 or above, and it may sound better. It also depends on the quality of your original mp3, though. Also, make sure you don't have other USB devices connected and not a lot of programs running in the background, so the computer can devote more of its processing power to greedy old SonicStage.
