saaron
I'm taking a trip back Stateside next week and I'm bringing my portable recorder so I can play some of my daughter's and my music without bringing piles of CDs. At the same time I planning on visiting local record stores like Streetlight, Amoeba, Tower and Virgin to buy domestic CDs both to take advantage of the exchange rate and save on import costs and hopefully find some out-of-print stuff. I'd like the option to transfer to MD, but I'd like to minimize the luggage on the way over so I'm wondering if anyone on the forum resides there and would know if places like Tower Records still stocks blanks (last time I checked was when I lived in Oakland, but that was four years ago and I don't want to chance that they're no longer stocking).I figure Japan Centre would have them if they were anywhere, but even that might be assuming too much.Anyone? Ishiyoshi
You could also stop by Sony Metreon while in downtown San Francisco. However, the MD blanks offered were nothing but regular Sony Color Series.

What were they going for?←I can't remember ... but I believe it was $16 for a 80min 10-pack and $6.99 for a 1GB disc. You can call ahead to confirm availability - Sony Style at Sony Metreon: (415) 369-6053.

Auvi_Joe
Sony Metreon is a convenient location in the downtown financial district and a good bet to find most Sony stuff there. You can also find MD and HI-MD blanks in local Circuit City, GoodGuys, CompUSA, BestBuy(and Office Depot, Officemax and Fry's electronics) retail chain stores. They are spread out all over city and the entire Bay Area. Availability may vary from location to location but usually they can check inventory for all the stores in the area via in-store inventory system. Their visibility on store shelves may also be varied but usually can find next to the CD and DVD media.Hope this helps.
