I've spent a bit of time working out how to automate "uploading" of tracks from md to mp3 on my Mac under OS X - but this will also work under linux. It is not true digital uploading, but automated real time analogue recording with track titling and mp3 tagging (like win nmd).

I basically installed the following software:

libnetmd - allows the mac to control netmd and get track info

ecasound - a powerful command line driven audio recorder and mixer

jackit - jack audio server so ecasound can use the mac sound card

Then I wrote a perl script to look up track and disk info, then play the tracks one at a time, and use ecasound to encode the analogue signal to mp3. The results are pretty satisfactory. Anyway I wanted to see if there was any interest in this - if so I can post more detailed instructions and make my perl script available. Shout up if you are interested...
