I have a HD Mini disc player MZ - NH900.

The problem i have is my Hi-MD disc keeps displaying the words "Format Error Disc" I have tryed to Initialize it but it keeps saying Initialize of the media failed. (The disc is not on protected)

The other problem I have found is that when I go to my computer I can't seem to get into the removeable drive for the mini disc player

Also The other problem is with my other Hi-MD disc which has a lot of music on it. I simply can't access it on my sonic stage software (version 3.0.02.)

Please Help?

P.s It was all working fine a day or to ago.

Maybe the little spike that detects the disc to be write protected or not has finally bit the dust. Did you drop your unit or something like that?

No I don't believe I have droped it. But whats that the spike that detects weather the disc is write protected? and where is it?

Any more suggestions?

If the mini-disc is lying upright on a surface, with the "Insert this End" arrow at the top facing away from you, the write-protect tab is located at the bottom left corner on the side where you might stick a long thin label.

Presumably, the write-protect detection spike is located in the corresponding part of the MD unit, next to the door.

Yeah I can see the long thin paper like material it slightly curvered into a arch (not sure if it's suppose to be like that. I can see it's got a little dirt on it so I'll clean that up.

Is it ok for that thin paper like material to be slightly bended into a arch form.

I'm not sure what you're talking about with thin paper-like materials and whatnot, but if your deck is still in the warranty period (one year from date of purchase as a new item) then you can send it back to Sony for a replacement, but keep in mind that you may not get the same model back. Sony may send you a different model if they cannot exchange for the same one.

Ok, when you plug the player to the computer in Windows... thingy pops out etc.... if you browse the contets of the disc in windows explorer there are a couple directories and files, they are system files needed, if you delete them, the disc is unreadable, your only choice if to format the disc manually on your player, not using SonicStage, and then your disc is usable again.... but your contents are gone.

Try taking the battery out.
