minidisco have one made by Onkyo...lots of money for it though.

Thanks for the reply. I had assumed that since Sony came up with the format, that they would have also produced Hi-MD compatible decks !

Indeed - the only Hi-MD decks at present are the Onkyo MD-133 and the MD-105FX. These are Japan only models and will need to be imported through places such as PriceJapan

Thanks for the reply and the Onkyo model numbers. I will investigate, but looks like I'll be sticking to the non-Hi-MD format if the Onkyo machines are very expensive. I had assumed that since Sony came up with the format, that they would have also produced Hi-MD compatible decks !

that is what everyone here pretty much in mind. We don't know why sony has not come up with hi-md deck as of yet. Maybe hi-md is targetted for remote recording. But it would be nice if there is a hi-md with PCM capable for studio recording. Lets hope that hi-md didn't came a little bit late. I think if you are looking for high quality uncompressed recording hi-md is the way to go though.

The MD-105FX can be had for around 260 USD + shipping, PriceJapan offer the higher-end model 133 for 471 USD shipped.

Onkyo has discontinued all Hi-MD production for separates and bookshelf units for 2007 in Japan.

Is this for real? If so, its a big bummer...I was considering getting one for myself for Xmas.

Has anyone ever had any luck using Japanese eBay (if there is one?)? I hang out in german car forums alot, and I know that people usually have good luck using ebay.de; seems like it could be a possibility to find something as cheap if not cheaper than pricejapan

I've just order Onkyo X-B8 himd bookshelf from pricejapan today,(450 euros including shipping and duties)

Seems to be a lot of e-shop selling onkyo himd stuff in Japan...

I just checked PJ again and they've got all the good stuff listed indeed, both decks and the bookshelf unit. I think I'll save some money for the X-B8 in the new year; would be nice in the bedroom. Which colour did you go for garcou? Black or white? Now both Richiyu and you will own one. I get this feeling too that Hi-MD is doing better than expected of all, and that export is booming. Kaneda is quite busy I reckon...

Thanks to your verifying the timer functions, I ordered the Onkyo Intec275 series (minus CD player & speakers) A-933 Pre-main Amp, MD-133 Hi-MD deck , and T-433 tuner. Of course in the U.S. I need a step-down transformer to 100V.

And if Onkyo has discontinued Hi-MD (I appear to have bought the last Intec275 units from Amazon Japan, which is now out of stock), this deck better last as long as my old Sony MDS-E12 workhorse (still going). But now that I've spend all the money to get this thing here, watch Sony release a pro deck.

I am on edge until I get the units in my hands, hopefully they will make it here safely!

Wow. That is not too bad and way better than AudioCubes' pricing. Does Price Japan's inventory always stay the same or do they add (or remove) things occasionally?

I'm guessing Price Japan doesn't have any inventory and plans to order the unit after they have a buyer?

Oh, my bad. I didn't mean inventory, but more like, do the products featured in their site stay the same or do new things pop up every now and then so that you have to habitually check the site. I was just being lazy and wanting to know if anyone who frequents PJ a lot knows when or how often they update/add to their material. But, question answered. ;)

PRICEJAPAN HAS NOW ONKYO'S HIMD IN HOT ITEMS! So it is possible to order directly from pricejapan site (but if you need voltage transformer it could not be the better method)

http://www.pricejapan.com/front/e_result_g...amp;in_maker=30

The prices Europe/USA includ shipping and pricejapan's fees.

edit:

other himd hot items: MZ-RH1 white for 265€ 201€ including shipping, and MZ-DH1OP - RED COLOUR 397€ 335€ ! ( applying today JPY/euro currency conversion - but I think you have to use moneybookers not paypal)
