Hello! New member here, so please be patient!

I've searched the site (which is fantastic) for an answer to my question, but can't immediately see what I'm looking for.

I currently have a Sony MZ-N710S unit, and a CMT-CP505MD minisystem, as well as about a hundred MDs with music recorded from CDs in SP and LP4.

I want to upgrade to the Hi-MD RH1. Basically I want to know if I can transfer the contents of these discs to the new format; ie, can they be uploaded from the original discs to my PC, and onto Hi-MD as Hi-MD tracks... if you see what I mean.

Thanks!

Yes. I've been doing quite a bit of transferring since I got my RH1.

Keep in mind, however, that SonicStage will convert them to Atrac3Plus, at a bitrate equivalent to the older LP2 and SP. SP is converted to "Hi-SP" (Atrac3Plus, 256 kbps), which is identical to SP to my ears, and takes up roughly half the space. Just remember to select the standard transfer mode.
