Hi. I am new to the minidisc forums group, but a long time fan of MDs. I purchased my first MD back in 2001 in Austria when I was on a study abroad program. Currently I own the Sony MZ-NH1 and I use it to record my church choir during rehearsals, services, and performances.

I also just bought the Sony ECM-MS907 mic. What settings would be the best to use for a live recording of a choir approximately 12 ft. away for a choir of 25 in a high ceiling church?

With high ceilings like that you should probably check for echoes in the location you pick to record. Position can make a big difference in a room like that. The MS907 isn't bad about picking up echo though. It does a good job of rejecting any noise outside of it's pickup range. I agree with A440 that the 120 degree setting is probably the best being that close to 25 people.
