i thought maybe a full installer instead of the internet one would work out well, but i can't find one :?

From my experience, installation issues such as yours usually derived from two principal causes:

  1. Your system is preventing the installer from altering/editing the registry; or
  2. some modules are not found. Were you able to get pass OpenMG Secure Module during the installation process?
Here's a noteworthy note from MDCF member, A440 regarding the installation issue:

you could disable anything security related: antivirus, firewall, anti-spyware, etc. Norton, Kaspersky, Trend Micro, Black Ice, Aluria, Spyware Doctor, Microsoft Anti-Spyware, Spybot, Black Ice, Zonealarm, and a long etc.

Some start automatically when you boot up and keep going even after you disable them (like Black Ice Firewall), so before diabling anything you might:

Run: msconfig and look in the Startup Tab and uncheck anything security related.

That doesn't disable currently running programs--it prevents them from starting automatically after rebooting. (Norton's programs are under Symantec, BTW. Google program names that aren't obvious--ignore the sales pitches for WinTasks or whatever.) Unless all your startup items are currently checked, make a list of what you're unchecking so you can add them again next time around--their order will change. (If they are all checked, you can just recheck them all, of course.) APPLY, disconnect from internet and reboot with those items unchecked.

Then try the installer and see if something was getting in the way.

Run: msconfig again, recheck what you unchecked and reboot before going online again.

Yes, CONNECT Player does utilize the same OpenMG Secure Module. In addition, you can have both software installed in harmony.

I've always had problems when installing a new OpenMG without uninstalling the old one and rebooting first, although not an installation failure. The new SonicStage 3.4 does come with an updated OpenMG compared to 3.3, not sure if it is newer than what comes with Connect Player.

Yes, it's the same version - 4.4.00

I'm getting the same errors with 4.3.

I tried uninstalling all the SonicStage components, and rebooting, but that same error still comes up. It can still install "OpenMG Limited Patch" thingy, though.

I've removed my AVG and Windows Defender from my start up, and I will reboot and try again...

I tried again, and I got the same installation errors. (2051, 20697) It still installed OpenMG Limited Patch....

Has anyone been able to install SonicStage 4.3 on a Vista PC ?

I have tried unsuccessfuly to install as an administrator witha basic selective startup enabled. The Install fales when the sonic install reaches 100% (63% of the total install)

Can anyone advise on how to install this programme. I have managed to borrow an install CD as opposed to the internet download option. Either method of install fails at the same place with :-

Installation has been terminated (2051, 20697)

I have contacted Sony Support who have not been able to assist with a remedy.

I have just tried installing SonicStage 4.3 on my new Windows Vista Premium computer and like many others in this forum have got stuck with the termination error 2051, 20697. Couldn't even get my original 3.4 CD version to install and ... yes, I've tried all the usuall tricks of turning off AV and firewall, installing as administrator, etc . And each attempt was after first restoring to a clean slate. 4.3 installed ok on my laptop running under Windows XP so this would seem to be a Vista problem and it's about time Sony came up with a solution! The retail version of Vista is now 6 months old.

If anyone finds a solution I hope they will kindly post it to this list ... I doubt that Sony will notify us via the email address we gave when registering the product!

This probably will not be of immediate help, however I have was able to install a working copy after reinstalling Vista.

I installed the software first, prior to any other software ( Roxio) to avoid any clashes, and it has worked perfectly.

I did have a copy of Roxio installed on my ( new ) PC with a manufacturers Vista installation. I can only suppose that one or other of the installations caused the problem.

Following my re install of Vista, some other niggles were also resolved as well !

I suspect that this may be your only option. Vista does re-install relatively easily. You may need to re install motherboard chipset drivers following a new install.
